that's sad but all part of show-jumping as nothing can be taken for granted. Horses and riders have long careers, so maybe next time.

Those two are a magnificent team usually. He will for sure not punish the horse (as some comments here try to indicate) because he knows those misunderstandings happen. He took the wrong decision and the horse said NO. Thats alright.

And yes, I get that you must think jumping those hights has to do with force, if you never felt the true partnership with a horse yourself. But I can assure you it is not force that gets the horses over the fences - it is true team work, partnership, will and attitude. There are for sure horses who would never jump those hights - but no rider would ever try to force them to do so. Since that does not make any sense at all and leads to nothing but frustration and injuries.

The horses you see here are mainly high competitive sport individuals themselves. They have the pure will to go over such hights.
