SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro's VS Astro A50 & A40's

Got the Nova pro yesterday and I’m bringing them back today lol first of all the sound is great. But the earmuffs was poking my ear, I don’t know what that is in the middle, but it was hurting my ear a hour in the game play. Then my ears 👂 stared getting hot and sweaty. I’m definitely going back to my Astro A50. Nova isn’t a bad headset , it’s just not for me.

My Astro a50s arms broke today I’m furious I got them in March and In September now and they are already broke

I mostly use A40’s and they are still some of the most comfortable headphones ever

Love the a50 sound but after a while it gets uncomfortable for me. Could be more padded on the top of the head

Okay Ive had the Astro A50 for about a year now and honestly they’re so uncomfortable for me they also give you dent head LOL but they sound AMAZING can’t lie

The metal peices on the ASTRO charging station break easily making it useless. Better home the female end on the headset doesn't strip out making it useless.

Where the hell is the mic on the nova pro wireless

I loved my gen 3 a40s. Had them for 10years. The mic started to cut out according to my friends. I got gen 4 a40s. Got em. And..... they wouldn't update so I could use them on xbox.i tried forcing a manual update. Still didn't work. Sent them back to Amazon after reading a lot of posts saying support sucks and some sets just won't update. I got the nova pros and I love them. I'll never buy astros again.

I have both the Astro A50's as well as the newer SS Nova Pro Wireless X. I also have the Arctis 9X. I have loved the Astros over the years and they are super comfortable. I was underwhelmed with the 9X's. The Novo Pro wireless are great in terms of build and options. Nova Pro are very clear but I just can't ever get the Steel Series loud enough for gaming on the Xbox Series X. My hearing is not great but Astros are "louder". I am sticking with my new Nova Pros but it is amusing when Americans talk about pricing. The Novo Pro Wireless X's are AU$735 RRP (I got them for AU$604 via sale at Amazon with cooling earpads that were recommended for another $43. Astro A50s still retail for between AU$400-600. I have watched videos for tuning the Nova Pros and done so. Super clear. Just not loud enough in gaming.

nova pro x box version on ps5 sound the same quality than nova pro play station version? i mean i have a ps5 but with x box version i can use headset multipiattform while the ps version it works only ps.....

I have astro a40s with the blue pop mic and closed back mod kit and cooling gel earcups. I just bought the nova pro but I'm scared to open them up because I love my Astros so much. I just don't see them being as good but after I watch this I'm getting a little hopeful. Thanks for the video

I agree, my A40’s are very comfortable, probably the most comfortable out of all the headsets I own an they sound amazing WITH my custom EQ, however, when compared to my nova pro wireless or Penrose they fall a little short an strait to show their age when it comes to the driver technology. The bass is crazy on my nova pro wireless with the right tune, my Penrose are just absolutely amazing lol I can’t lie, even without a tune they sound better than both, but I keep going back to my A40s because the mix amp is just so much more convenient an they are super cozy like I was saying, they also still sound great, but definitely need to be updated. I wouldn’t buy the A50s at all for that price an no Bluetooth is insane to even consider buying them. I’d rather just keep the A40s plus the mic is better.

I don’t know why but everything sounds perfect on my astros then I used the nova pro and everything seems so far away and distant and not as loud

wanted to advise anyone using series x and s do not buy any astro headset for latest gen consoles the recent update has caused major defects in astros. I cannot say for sure if this is the same for other headsets I just returned the astro gen 4 set because it had multiple issues that everyone has been having since the last update. I am buying the steel series nova pro wireless after my refund because they are built for series s and x also recently turtle beach is releasing a latest gen headset on april 23rd I have been a turtle beach fan all my life but my favorite were the xo four that had the best audio quality and you knew where every shot was coming from and your surrounding enemy footsteps were heard from about 15 ft - 25 ft away anyways this is not a message to product push just simply tired of running into bad headsets with issues. Oh and I absolutely love bluetooth for phone calls and listening to music through the headset while playing with friends with them hearing it this is a message from a retired professional pubg streamer hopefully this message helps anyone with issues with astros please stay safe and clean out there also appreciate this video.

I bought the JBL quantum 910x for the Xbox and they sounded good. You are able to hear things in the distance but the max volume was too low. I returned them and went with the nova pros

Lol way 2 many mixed opinions on headsets, so many different factors involved. Everyone has a different experience with a product.

All of them have one thing in common. Mics are terrible :( I stay on my MMX 300 2. gen.

if you still have the Astro a40s ill buy them off you!!!! can buy them but wont get them for about 6 months. (TR headset and Mix amp are either sold out or limited)

I have had my A50s for about a year, and they have been great until recently! Unfortunately, I have been running into issues with the mic not turning back on after the arm has been flipped up, then flipped back down. I usually have to repeat the process 3 - 4 times before they kick back on. I sometimes even have to power them down and do a hard restart on the headset. Not sure if this is normal wear and tear, but I would have expected them to last a bit longer, considering the price. Sound and Comfort are top notch though; no complaints there. With there being a mute button on the PS5 this could eliminate the problem, but that's just a fix. I'll probably give the Steel Series a try next just because I'm not 100% sold on the A50s.

There is no way that you used the Astros for any real amount of time because over time the headset spreads apart, like with the A50s they won’t sit in the base anymore without being held. Sorry but this makes this whole review a bit sus.

Nova pro wins the gamer working from home contest no matter which way you slice it. Nobody gives them the credit they deserve for it either.

This video is kinda old but it did really help my decision. Ive been researching for a solid week on A50s vs nova pro wireless. Being only a xbox gamer it was a tough decision to make as both have pros & cons. I decided to go with the SS. I currently have the Gen 3 A50s so naturally i was a bit biased towards the Gen 4. But with so many issues with the Gen 4 and not really much improvement over the Gen 3 it felt like to big of a gamble. The biggest selling point for the SS for me was the batteries. Ive never been overly fond of internal rechargeable batteries on electronics. Also the features i can change on the fly. Even with no ability to use sonar being on console. Ya astro has the ACC app on Xbox but the customization is basic and you can't actually update firmware through it so i didn't really see the value. I will agree the A50s are more comfortable out of the box, once my wicked cushions show up the SS might actually win in that also.

I just bought the new Nova Pros on Friday, I took them back after an hour of use. These are a complete fraud of a headset in the price range it's at. The sound is limp and sterile. Zero depth or warmth to the sound, volume does not go high enough and overall they have a low quality feel ( the actual headset )..these are more in line with a$125 headset. You can tell the company is paying for positive reviews in the magazines as there is no comparison between these and the Astro A40/50

Have the a50 and love them. Going to steel series only because my headset battery life is going out on the a50s Only last a couple hours of gaming before it starts to die. So I’m getting something new sadly.

No one is talking about the massive issues the Asto a50 got with having to do hard resets all the time due to headset randomy dying?

if the speakers and drivers are the same between wired and wireless..then its all based on what is going on in game or video and speaker setup..so your vid is all farce... from my guess you never messed with the custom setup on audio settings... sorry...boo review..i want my time back... ill need like $75 from ya for my time wasted..thats on the low for me.

If I actually cared about how my voice sounded I would go for the A50’s, the nova mic sounds so tinny.
Still I won’t be buying another Astro headset, I’d prefer the crisp sound from the nova

purchased the astro a50 first but returned it after 2 days cause the top headband came apart. (its still a common issue and astro has not fixed this). also the battery life really sucked. With the new steel series I never have to worry about charging cause I got a spare battery that automatically charges easily in the audio dock and can be switched when the others done, which means I can game unlimitedly without needing to put my headset away to charge. its genius. I purchased the steel series headset and had it for about a month and love it, their super light, and the sound quality is superb (way better than astros IMO) also the software has way more pre made audio settings for all the popular games that you can easily switch to. I play valorant a ton and there's a audio mode made just for it so I can hear all the footsteps. Astro only had like 5 default audio settings you can change to and aren't game specific... I'm so happy the astros broke on me otherwise I would be stuck with those.
