This is close to my heart because my father was a welder at Lockheed in the late 1950's and into the mid 1960's.
I was born in Torrance and we lived in Manhattan Beach during this most of these years. Burbank too.

I remember my father telling me they were welding together a jet that would fly from LA to NY in less than 2 hours. I was only 5 years old and I'm 65 now! I also remember the excitement in his voice to this day! God Bless you and God Bless America!

the position of the cockpit & tiny split forward glass area barely gives the pilot any visual of what's in front . . . especially during landing & taxi . . . a Mach 4.5 - Mach 6.2 capable stealth hypersonic strike fighter sounds more doable, more practically realistic . . .

Darkstar is a hypersonic project, it is very similar to an aircraft from the 80s.

XR-7 Thunder Dart, is a hypersonic aircraft project that was tested in the late 80s, known as the Aurora project. There were sightings of the aircraft with sonic booms and generating a medium magnitude earthquake, according to witnesses. It is said and in theory, that the plane was developed in Area 51, by Lockheed Martín, the plane flew at Mach7 at 40,000 meters high and was an anti-satellite plane, on its leading edges it has ceramic, due to the high temperature which was generated by friction and high speed, giving a red color.

The propulsion of the plane consisted of a pulse detonation wave engine, where the fuel is not burned in the combustion chamber but detonated by electrical pulses and the ducts become increasingly narrower, in order to increase the pressure and thrust, generating the hypersonic speed.
