GOPRO HERO 9 Media Mod vs External Mic Audio Test, Which Should You Use?

May I ask as I work a lot in the garden with it and those openings seem to have dust / soil: how would you recommend to clean that is safe for the electronics please 😇 Also, the drain microphone (designed to drain water that is not supposed to be a door/latch): Unfortunately as a beginner user of the device it was tried to be opened and consequently broke: How would you try to fix that? As last, Is the microphone behind that door giving a real microphone function? I know a problem has a solution ;)

so the cable the works inside the gopro media mod is a TRRS cable that is meant for cameras the the reason your headphones didn't work is because its a TRS which is used for phones its pretty sample if you think about it. just make sure there are only 2 rings around the headphone jack and not 3

That PowerDewise mic is really funky. What exactly is the point of making a 3.5mm plug which itself needs another adapter for the GoPro ... such a strange setup.

Is the media mod mic bidirectional? So if you're interviewing someone it'll catch both: their voice and yours?

The apple 3.5 mm audio/mic jack is TRRS(Tip/ring/ring/sleeve, or rightaudio/leftaudio/mic/ground), and the Gopro takes onlt TRS(tip/ring/sleeve) by using an adapter your are converting a TRRS to TRS.

So do you know if I use a rode microphone wireless go will it work or will I have to use that adapter that you use with your apple headphones?

Hi J, just wanna know if it can pick up the audio and record at the same time while charging? the problem with the mic adapter used for hero 7 and 8 is that you can only do either charge or mic. can you confirm this since I am planning to buy media mod for hero 8

The gopo mic adapter you talk about right at the beginning of the video still works for Gopro 9. From my research, the firmware update around september-october 2020 didn't handle it well, but it's been working after that ever since.

Just to inform, the GoPro micro adapter works on GoPro 9.
I had this adapter for Hero 6 and now is working perfectly on Hero 9.

Does hero 9 works well with quick capture? Because most of the times audio doesn't get recorded with external mic.
