some one pls teach how can the first blow can give raphael 60 + 30 + 90 damage? isn't he use thunderous smite with maximum 40 damage? and why this atk can 100% hit?

Note.
This strategy does not seem to fully work anymore.
When I tried it he seemed to have a an auto-pass save on hold persons even if he failed the roll after a single turn.
I was able to use indomidable shield and a handful of sneaky third level Divine Smites while he was held for the turn to drop him.
Also, defeating him no long means you win the fight.
I still had to fight all of his lesser devils and the guy you fight in act 2. (Didn't have the persuasion to pass the roll.)

I think I did something wrong with my build I can only attack 3 times at most....

I was hoping there would be a cut scene of Raphael begging for his life, just before the final stroke. That would be supremely satisfying.

The only thing I don't like about this fight is that it doesn't give you any achievement :( at least there could be one if you beat him without destroying any pillars, like when you defeat Orin with the cult going on, or Myrkul with the undead around

Ugliest custom character I've ever seen

No need to multiclass my 12 level avenger Paladin killed him easily by far. In my opionion multiclassing a Paladinis a an error you loose all protection abilities wich makes him almost invulnerable!! Paladina are much more OP with no multiclass, tried many combos, Paladin/sorcerer, Paladin/Warlock, Paladin/Fighter/warlock, none is better than just a 12 level Paladin left alone!!

Your pala dmg doesn't work anymore with the latest patch... the pact of the blade doesn't scale anymore strength + charisma... hence you wouldn't be able to kill it with your pala in the first turn.

Very interesting, so it seems like he can't use his Punish Divinity ability due to the mucus paralyzing him.

I did this fight with my brother and my GF. Raphael nuked my brother's druid and killed him in the first turn and we were totally lost, unsure of what to do and were pretty convinced we were going to wipe and were in for a long night.

Not long after, we figured out the Soul Pillars mechanics and cheesed it. My GF's Wizard cast an Invulnerability globe in the center of the room for her and Hope to stand in while me and my brother flew around the room to wreck the Pillars and Cambions. Yurgir being a sneaky bastard on our side was also helpful.

The ending of the fight was great, though. Raphael ascended, but I was playing a Half-Orc Champion wearing the Hill Giant Strength Gauntlets and I had consumed a Colossus Elixir. So we basically had a Kaiju battle which Raphael lost... badly. It ended with my brother's druid casting Moonbeam while I used an entire turn's worth of actions to literally pick the ascended Raphael up and carry him into said beam before taking him out and placing him back in it. Over and over again.

So yeah, we beat Raphael by giving him Moonbeam swirlies.

Hope died..i never got these gloves..but i cant use em since im gale...Thats how my story goes :D

In his human disguise he has 865 HP but drops to 666 in his Devil form. Very odd change o_O

I couldn't beat him in any legit way. Had to cheese the AI with globe of invulnerability. Dashed away into the next hall with Gale once it expired. Raphael took it personally and gave chase, ignoring the rest of my party. Suppose he put too much stock on not failing that saving throw as I shoved him over the railing into the abyss. He can take whatever loot he had on him into the hells, or wherever he ended up.

Weird to see those psychic abilities, lol.
I haven't unlocked them.

The song and lyrics made it feel like a high school musical, it was kinda cringe. The fight was so nice though

Dude‘s team is stacked with tadpoles and the troll is fighting also for you so. Too many things in your favor. Fight without tadpole help newbie

When the fight starts and the music goes it's simply epic. There is no other fucking game doing this nowadays. Blizzard would've charge for the track as DLC.

BRUH I did this quest and as soon as I killed Raphael the other demon and Hope started attacking me so I had to kill them both and didn't get the gloves.... Ima have to beat his ass again with my elementals

Kinda surprised Korilla doesn't have dialog if she is still alive when Raphael dies.
With how confident she is that you're gonna die, you would at least think that she would be like, "Well fuck me"

Step 1. Put A LOT of explosives in a backpack, all unstacked (important!)
Step 2. Throw the backpack at his feet.
Step 3. Light the pile of explosives.
Step 4. Hope the game doesn't crash while it calculates how dead whatever everything close to that explosion should be.

Your Paladin over there dropping those Hiroshima Nuke Smites on him. That was pretty wild.

So that was more than one turn

I fought this guy in act 3 while I was still level 11. He was basically my first boss enemy in act 3. Had no legendary equipment from other finale bosses from my companions. Needless to say, I had a tough time but it was so satisfying utilizing every single technique in the game. I actually had to use the Orphic Hammer in breaking the pillars.

I took him on with no Illithid powers. I failed to convince Yurgir to join me. I lost Hope. It took me an hour. But I beat him on my first battle. So I accepted my losses. 10/10 fight.
I think you could probably do it quicker. But you need to get a better initiative roll at the start.

Now I know who I must defeat for my monk playthrough

Now do it without mods lol
