Call this what it is... GREED. I am not paying for any component that is loaded with useless garbage. Fortunately, there is a relatively easy fix to this trend. Content creators like JTC need to start testing and posting reviews of hardware. The reviews need to be honest, and the reviewer needs to be competent. In my opinion, manufacturers are getting away with so much because of the failure publications like Maximum PC. Back in the day, they were the best trade magazine out there.

I run a 5800x on a $120 msi motherboard and never had an issue. The motherboard supports my m.2s and my graphics card and that's all I care about.

Hi, Thanks for the input on Motherboards. I'm currently running Rampage lll Extreme with 980x water cooling. It's to the stage where the my whole system is degrading with time and need to upgrade. I haven't sourced hardware in a few years. This video had some wisdom in it. Will help with starting a new build. Thanks Subscribed

I've been building computers since the mid eighties, first adding 20MB filecards in PC/XTs (yeah, MFM hard drives used to be smaller than today's CPU cache). I stopped circa 2010. Now I buy 2nd hand 5 years old workstations for a song, max them out, and run them until they choke on the latest internet fad they can't handle. Rinse, repeat. They are beasts engineered to run 24/7 at max speed for years, and they do.

But dont you need higher RAM support for high level gaming or other uses? I am getting in to machine learning and I hear that 64gb of dddr5 RAM is the minimum requirement.

Id like to see the back end costs to see how much it cost to make then see what the markup is. I cant blame a company for making a soild gold version if people want it as long as the profit markup is the same. As long as you can still have budget options

also, my built will be DDR5 memory and for productivity purpose (e.g. editing)
[some suggestions will be great]
Thanks!

My first build I ever made was a great midrange build with a 1050ti and a first gen Ryzen CPU, with 16GB of ram. Back then, that was midrange and it only costed me around $500. How the HELL did my last build with an R7 7700X, RX6750XT, and 32GB of ram cost $1300? Thats almost 3x the price!!!

The PC industry needs a serious reality check

When you're brand new, you're retro. By the time I want a new cpu, I want a whole new system. You could BGA bond the chips and screw the socket heat.

I bought fx board for my Vishera, which still runs well for Linux, that cpu has an onboard AMD clock with a ton of timing precision. but NB-SB unmeasured bandwidth choke. That's why you wanted an APU generally. I keep that Fractal Design build under 30dB noise as an audio wkstn and bottomline dev profile, no liquid cooling, still frigid(65-75F) with a huge CoolerMaster sink. It still runs well with DDR3.:/

I'm looking at a new build right now and I'm seeing an MSI board for 280 euro and it basically has everything. WIFI. 10 usb, all audio ports, 2,5gbit ethernet, 6 sata, pci-e 5 and 4 m2 slots, and even a clear cmos buttons. I have looked at boards of 400 and 500 euro but there's barely any difference that I can see. Some have 1 extra m2 slots maybe 2 more usb but THAT"S IT. everything else is basically the same. Why are they 200-300 more. It's crazy.

You are right. The prices are ridiculous. Intel doing low base clocks on non k chips means you may as well get a z series board and overclock a bit because who wants to run a k series chip in a b series non overclock motherboard just to get a higher base clock. Ca ching ca ching ca ching...

My Ryzen 5800X3D and RTX 3090 Ti run great on the $120 MSI B550A-Pro. That MOBO has a great VRM section, and enough of everything else I need. I think It was your advice in a video from a year ago that steered me towards that one.

It all works perfectly fine without a huge price tag attached to my motherboard.

I just bought the ROG Strix Z690-E for $255 from Newegg (I think they "knock off" 100 for combo deals) and a 12th gen I7. Seems to be the "sweet spot" price wise. I'd switch to AMD if I didn't need my set up to do also handle photo editing as well.

We'll see how it goes. Current setup is MSI z390 gaming plus and i7 7th or 8th gen.

It will be a cold day in hell, and the devil will have arisen to enslave the world, before I spend 1000 bucks on a mobo. Hell, I'm not spending 250 on one. It's pointless. On it has an OLED readout? So the fuck what? What's the point of the readout. "I can see how much voltage is being put out!" And your hardware monitor on the screen cant??? Bruh. The only thing i care about, is does it have an M.2, and is it wifi capable. Im playing games that came out in 2017 bro the rest of thay bullshit is smoke and mirrors

@jayztwocents Question: Is there an EK waterblock that would fit the 7900XTX Merc 310 Black Edition? I know there isn't a back plate, and alphacool does have one that I've been waiting over a month now to be delivered. I'm just curious if there is a custom way to watercool GPU's if there isn't a waterblock specifically made for it in particular.

I need a motherboard that supports DDR5 rams, LGA 1700 Z790 for the cpu and a 4080. Found MSI Z790 DDR5 tomahawk. Would that motherboard be a good purchase or am I missing a better value board?

I am open to recommendations but I don't feel confident in ASUS motherboards.

The only way to get these companies to change is to literally stop buying their products, review bomb them and dont even mention them. Otherwise they will keep doing what they're doing. The purpose of any business is to not make a quality product, thats secondary. Their main perogative is to maximize profit. In this case that means stripping nice to have features instead focus those costs to the products visual aesthetic which is most likely cheaper, and then price gouge.
