I totally agree the Scala is super overpriced... It is basically a stainless steel cp1 with a fancy laquer job or velvet matt finish. I used to be a lamy fan boy hardcore...I even have an imporium I've never used LoL

I bought the Orange Scala on fomo as well because it was so different for even lamy. I want to hate the pen but when I use it I just like it allot. The grip is less slick than the studio and more comfortable to hold further up. And you can tell the difference of the platinum plating on the Orange One from my other three... Even the new jade one isn't as nice. I like the dark violet one the best and think it's a nicer finish/color than the dark lilac safari everyone goes nuts over.

I agree it should be half the price but given what it's made of and how well and how I hate the fact I like it so much... It's like a tank dressed up as a Ferrari...I still love/hate it!

Always look forward to your vids bud. Thank you and another great one as always!

I like almost all lamy's designs, only have steel nibs and they all write well

While the pen is rather stylish, it is not one for me. The Safari grip is annoying to me, BUT it is of good quality and reasonably priced. I would go for the Studio. It is wider and costs less. I had the Scala ballpoint and sold it quickly.

Very good overview.

I have the LE Orange Scala you do and think it’s a lovely pen. I love the nib which is quite bouncy and has a nice bit of audible feedback. I have the CP1 (my first pen when back into the hobby) and love that one too. Plenty of Safaris of various models and price points. I guess I like LAMYs! It doesn’t seem like you really loved the orange Scala so I’m curious why you’d buy another?

Tip for those getting blinded by the HDR video, switch on battery saver in your phone before clicking on the video

Lamy steel nibs are lacklustre imo and any pen that has it apart from the safari is not worth it.
The lamy 2000 is excellent though and worth the money, especially if you buy used or from the grey market

I am not a big Lamy fan. I am not fond of their style for the most part, but I do like their nibs. I have a Lamy Studio rollerball I have had for a long time and I like that one. What I do have is a Jinhao 80 which has a Lamy style nib that I didn't like at all. I bought a Lamy medium nib on Amazon and I swapped the Jinhao nib which was like a needle, and now I have a great pen for less than $30 with a Lamy nib that writes well.

Crazy how strong the LAMY brand is despite having a very confusing line up of products outside of their 2 heroes (Safari, 2000). Form really following function and value, oddly enough.
