We’re friends now! This was helpful af. I will defend you in battle if ever there comes a time.
ОтветитьDo you have any issues doubling up on the preamps? Since you can't bypass the Scarlett's? I know they're pretty transparent but wondered if that's caused problems at all? Thanks for the video!
ОтветитьI do the same thing through a pair of Neve clones as well. Besides re-amping I put it on the 2 bus after a SSL clone compressor.
ОтветитьMind just hums
ОтветитьClever! Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьTeach us for stereo too
ОтветитьIf you don’t want to connect both outputs simultaneously, you can switch the routing in the vst connections when you want to change over
ОтветитьMake a vid on how to do the plugin routing
ОтветитьThis was an amazing video, exactly what I was looking for thank you 👏👏
Ответитьgreat explanation and thanks!
ОтветитьCurious why you use both outputs ... why not loop it through 1 input/output? Wouldn't it still all work the same? ALSO, have you used the INSERT function at all? I'm so curious about that and how levels would work.
Ответитьdo u get a phasing issue when you use it as a plug in? i tried that with my tascam dp 24 and when i run it back in its slightly off from everything else, if i try to run the new snare sound with the original in parallel they phase really bad
ОтветитьVery informative, thank u. I saw in another video of yours that has this simultaneous set up going through the wa76. Did u use both xlr and trs inputs and outputs in that scenario too? Was there any sound detrements ran this way?
ОтветитьHey Zach. Thanks so much for the video. I have to 2 questions if that's ok? So are you using both line outputs from both channels? Cause there's and trs option and an xlr option. Why are there 2. I'm using xlr to trs for the xlr output option and im using trs to trs for the line input because that's the only option available for the input. Also, what are the unbalanced insert send and returns for? Im running all of my gear into a patch bay. Thanks for your help man.
ОтветитьReally handy tip that is easy to understand. You just got a new subscriber
ОтветитьGreat Video! Does WA-73EQ have long life and internal quality build? Some people say it dies after - year and the switches are crooked? Is that true?
ОтветитьWhat about for vocals? Where do I plug my mic so I can use the WA73 as a plug-in?
ОтветитьHI Zach (or anyone). Thanks for a great video. I've tried following your steps: I've taken 1 of the 2 lines out (TRS 1/4in) from my Scarlett 18i8, into the line in of my WA73-EQ, then TRS out from the WA73 to Line in 5 (TRS 1/4in) in the Scarlett. The 'Line' button on the WA73 is pushed in. I created an External FX in Cubase and inserted it into an audio channel which had been giving out about -10 dBFS. When the FX is active, the volume decreases to a very low level (-20 to -40) and when I increase gain, either in the WA73 or the volume knob on the Scarlett, I get loud feedback. What am I doing wrong?
ОтветитьHi! Did you also use it on the whole mix as a part of mastering chain?
ОтветитьWouldn't that send audio to the line input on channel 3 of your interface at the same time you're using the inputs on the front? Why not just use the line out for all and just change the i/o as out 3 and in on 1 of the focusrite?
Ответитьdoes it have to be virtual instrument or can it be a recorded signal to use as a plugin because the wa73 recieves signal but i can't eq or adjust any of the settings while in play back
ОтветитьHi Zach! Have you compared the sound of the instrument input of this unit vs. a direct box straight to your interface to capture electric guitar/bass? Your "input" would be gladly appreciated!
ОтветитьHow do you use the rear xlr on the wa73? Just got mine, and I’m not getting any signal from rear xlr, only the front xlr. Any tips?
ОтветитьThis is strange advice... You only need one line output connected, and it is not generally good advice to plug an XLR line out into a Mic amp! Not wise and not necessary!
ОтветитьIf you take XLR out of the 73 and go XLR into the Scarlett wouldn’t you be also using the Scarlett’s in built preamps? Wouldn’t you be better to go line in for you front end to bypass the Scarlett’s preamp stage?
ОтветитьI'm having a hard time being able to use de line in. The preamp and eq works great while tracking but I just don't seem to be able to use the wa73eq as an insert without distorting the crap out of it. Do you have to use the line out trs instead of the xlr to make it work?!
ОтветитьSo that mean we can't have 2 setup on one device.
If I want to use it like plugins I will set up only for plugins? Or there is another way to do it like record vocals and use it sale time like plugins? Because I don't understand it well
I have two interfaces recording 16 mics all together. Will getting a mic preamp and running it into the interfaces effect all of these mics? I’m a noob to this. Thanks
ОтветитьThanks for a rather detailed review, but I didn’t understand this points: if the line button is pressed, does input and output (TRS jack) works or only input works? And if its not pressed, does the input and output (XLR) works? And in what case does the rear xlr-input (mic-input) works?
ОтветитьI just purchased a wa 73 eq,i am waiting for it,and your video is colossal!i am learning. Thanks!!!
ОтветитьHello, I just purchased one of these a few days ago, and I am having trouble connecting it to my interface to record vocals, should I try following the first set of instructions in the video?
Ответитьjust bought the wa273. and its my first analog piece of gear! thanks for the tutorial. literally nothing else on YT with a video on how to route this for both! you should do more of these!
ОтветитьGerat tutorial. I am a drummer and I use a TASCAM Model 24 mixer for my miced up drum set, for live tracking and recording. I am considering to change the mixer for rack gear. I wish to buy preamps, EQ´s and compressors for all my drum mics and want to run it into my DAW with an Apollo x16. Is it the possible to track all the analog gear.......preapms, EQ´s and compressors Live? I want to have a Live sound like I would have on a ready mixed and processed recording, Is that possible? I would not know how to setup the DAW and the signal chain for that!? Thanks
ОтветитьYou explain it the best. Do you have one explaining recording levels for recording vocals. I just bought the wa 87-R2 and the WA73
ОтветитьGreat Video, thanks man!
ОтветитьThank you for the very helpful video, I recently got my WA73 and haven't put it through its paces yet, mostly because I couldn't figure out how to use it as an insert. Keep up the great content 👍
ОтветитьHey Zach great content. Thanks for these good 💎 you’re putting out. I have a question for you, do you use balanced or unbalanced TRS cables for that set up? Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьYou don't have to use both outputs. You could just use one. They are the same signal.
Ответить🖤🖤🖤
ОтветитьIf I'm using two microphones for the guitar amps could I plug in the second mic on the back of the WA73 that says MIC INPUT all the way to the right?
Ответить
