I'm really looking forward to the Voigtlander 27mm f2 MF lens too. Might have to try the 23mm sometime but as i already have that focal length covered, i'm going for the 27 first.

Great to see you again Doriyan, really nice images. For a 23mm (I don’t use it very often) I have the Fuji XF23 f/2, but lately I’ve been playing with my new favorite toy (which I mainly use in manual focus) the XF33 f/1.4. Be well and stay safe.

It's a pity that the 23mm 1.2 has extreme field curvature. Otherwise I would have kept mine :(

Figured this would be about Voigtländer. I want to try their XF mount lenses, but they are not sold here in Norway and imports are a bit risky. Maybe I will buy a second hand copy from my home country and get it shipped to me. I have the Fuji 35mm f/1.4 and see no reason to get the Voigtländer 35mm. Don't need the Voigtländer Macro 35mm so that leaves the 23mm for now. The new 27mm looks super nice. Thanks for the Video and thanks for focusing on Voigtländer :) stay awesome!

Really good video :) I think I'd personally still go for a used XF 23 f1.4 over this, as in the UK you can get them for about £350. I also do really enjoy some of the manual lenses made for Fuji, I have a super cheap Zonlai 22 f1.8 and it's tiny, all metal build and very tactile.

Just saw a video a week ago about a programmer looking at porting MK2 to the Atari Jaguar. He did the menu screen and the characters have 8 frames but the arcade has 12 frames.

Ice Tea said he loves Mortal Kombat you get to kill people and you don't even have to go to jail. LOL

I know you’re busy and this might not be possible. I would absolutely love a video overview of your workflow when it pertains to using Lightroom or processing the raw images again in Camera however, you do what you do. And also to stay organized for these projects! 😊 you said something about using and or being as simplified as possible and I also I am trying to do this. Thanks a ton either way man!!! Again great video ❤

What I’m liking with your photos in this video is it looks realistic. In 2023, there’s this sharpness war going on by camera brands and trends of who can make a photo sharp that your eyes get cut by looking at them. It’s really a turn off for me because I want to see some character, some flaws, some REALISM instead of flawless and over sharpened perfection. It makes me think of some of my old Leica gear where it’s CLEAR, not sharp. I have an XP3 so I might have to try this lens because it definitely looks awesome. Thanks for the vid, subbed! Love your style, it’s definitely skilled and has that classic look to it! One question I have is do you just put this lens on the Fuji body and you can focus away, or do you need to put the body in a manual focus mode first?

Side side note…is that flossy carter??

In General I love this lens also. But the only annoying downside is the super short way/distance of focusing from around 1m till infinity. Not more than a 1cm or something like that on the lens. Really difficile handling.

For example the voigtländer 40mm 1.4 VM for Leica has muc more focusing way

I like your style a lot, man <3 Real art, keep up the great work :) I‘m a full time photographer using tons of annoying heavy Nikon FX stuff - but my „private“ hobby is street and nature photography with fuji x and just a 23mm prime giving a shit on technical perfection - that boring stuff is just important in my job and daily work :) Greetings from Bavaria

Brilliant video explaining exactly the kind of characteristics that I'm interested. (And no boring sharpness brick wall chart thing… who cares about those? What matters is if a lens is sharp enough and you should be able to tell by the naked eye).

I have only little question though: how easy is it to focus? I see you've written that it's short. Are you able to take photos of people in informal social situations with it wide open (say if it's really dark)?

Great video. I'm currently using a fuji 18mm f/2 for my travels, primarily for documentary/street, and most of the time use zone focusing at f8 or f11.

Just wanted to ask how different would a 23mm focal length compare to the 18mm? Would it be a huge difference? Thanks!

I'm mainly on L-mount now, but I'm eagerly awaiting an X-Pro4 so that I can get these VX lenses that dynamically change the framelines. My first lens was a Nokton, then I had an X-Pro, but I've never had them work together like this.

Short and sweet dorian! I am a huge fan of the concept of shooting with a Leica M10, since I borrowed it for two days. As for most it is out of my price range.
So with my XPRO3 I have the best of both worlds. OVF and EVF and focus peaking.

With this lens I could more easily do what I haven't been able to do as of yet. Zone focusing. Since I like to have metadata in my pictures this is just perfect. A sharp lens for street and even portrait without the disadvantage to not see later if what I did worked with the given aperture and exposure.

I have the XF 35 mm f2 from Fuji but especially in low light situations or night it lacks.

Thanks for the review you have definitely got a new subscriber. :)
