My favourite- A Christmas Carol.
ОтветитьI agree with G.B.S. that it is hard to distinguish which of Dickens' works is his greatest- because the are all great. But, my personal favorite will always be the Pickwick Papers.
Ответитьsadly i didn't read the book, but loved to watch the movies and tv movies based on this novel, loved the roman polanski's oliver twist...i hope i shall read the book soon
ОтветитьSo, how come John continually got himself into debt? You never said why. Did he gamble?
ОтветитьA terrible pedestrian commentary..he simply avoids any intelligent analysis of Bleak House which is Dickens most complex and profound novel..it's all gungho! for Great Expectations as is rightly expected but his comments are really rather glib.
ОтветитьGreat Expectations - the 1946 movie - Directed by David Lean is a masterpiece - the cast - the music - the screenplay and the masterful direction of David Lean - you can feel Charles Dickens and the time is brought to life - glad I found it on DVD .
ОтветитьI've read many of his works and to this day, I read them again.
ОтветитьAs a Writer Magnificent. As a husband absolutely appalling. He died much too young. Favorite Novel Great Expectations
ОтветитьSo many wonderful Novels by this Precious Writer.
ОтветитьI LOVED DICKENS UNTIL HE BELIEVED OUR INUIT WERE THE ONES WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR FRANKLIN'S DEMISE. NOW AFTER FINDING HIS SHIPS, HE WAS AS WRONG AS POSSIBLE LIKE MANY BRITS OF THAT TIME!!!
ОтветитьCharles Dickens sense of compassion and honor makes him my favorite author. He cared when others did not.
ОтветитьThat house looks anything but modest, probably set you back a cool £750k which is 3x more than the average house price in England. Not that modest.
ОтветитьFriend of Mankind, but no friend of the mother of his children. Whatever happened to Mrs Dickens?
ОтветитьGreat! ❤
Ответитьwhy the weird music and interludes?
ОтветитьI just watched a Walk documentary on BBC and it was based on him and his life. With an interest in writing myself and Having won The Literature price near my final year in secondary school based on some of his works, I was interested in any movie about him. Read quite a bit on Wikipedia about him, his loves, and his 10 children. (4/6/2023.) .
ОтветитьWe did not hear anything about the greatest of Dickens’ novels GREAT EXPECTATIONS (1861)!!!
ОтветитьFor me David Copperfield is his best story following him through the troubled childhood to a young adult, the personal growth along the way, the way childhood characters return later as adults and the happy ending with Agnes are so satisfying.
The Pickpapers, The Old Curosity Shop and Nicholas Nickleby have some of his funniest livelist and most imaginative characters and plots.
Hard Times, Dombey and Son, Great Expectations and Our Mutual Friend have a bleaker tone and more ambiguous characters but also some bitting satire and more troubled love stories.
A Christmas Carol is for me the most enjoyable read, short and punchy, it really drives its message home.
What is that beautful violin symphonic music? It starts in the middle portion of the documentary.
ОтветитьI love Dickens and this video is a fine biography, but I can’t listen to the interlude music any longer.
ОтветитьThe cared about everyone but his wife.
