After previous form I still want to know the breakdown products of the PLA, see if it's not just another phony bio-plastic, particularly 'aero-biodegradeable' microplastic nightmares. It would also be good to know if the seaweed cartons are hypoallergenic; I've not heard of anyone being allergic to seaweed which has been a huge problem with corn based products.

Try finding plastic free tumblers. ALL the lids are plastic. There are only a handful of water bottles available with zero plastic.

Last I heard the cost problem with hemp is that the farming machinery simply isn't made anymore. Where's the gigafactory for hemp machinery?

Very informative, hopefully some of these alternatives will soon be available in developing countries, like the Philippines, where I live. My dream is to enforce restrictions on the movement of plastics between islands of our archipelago, so that smaller islands can become fossil-based plastic free much sooner. Hopefully there can be some mechanisms for encouraging these kinds of local initiatives. The UN is investing a lot of effort in assisting Small Island Developing States face crises in climate and plastic consumption, hopefully there can soon be similar initiatives for subnational small island developing jurisdictions. Our archipelago has hundreds of these local government administrations.

I'm definitely interested in the the use of Hemp and Mycelium as a plastic alternative. I would also like to see more advances in PLA composting as I am a hobby 3d printer and I hate the sheer volume of waste it generates that could be recycled or composted but isn't because there is no good infrastructure to do it. I'm also interested in the seaweed idea, that seems like an amazing way to use a plentiful and potentially invasive plant for something good. And, hey, what Fun Guy doesn't like Shrimp Cocktail?

What would be absolutely cool would be a transparent to mostly transparent/semitransparent mycelium-based plastic that can hold drinking water, safely, for up to 2 years, but after the contents have been downed the bottle can be cut up, boiled or soaked in near boiling water for 3 to 5 minutes, then be cut up and used for either noodles or mushrooms in your Bolognese sauce.

Dog gone it, another video I WANT to watch, but am unable. Please make your videos more accessible. Get rid of the background music throughout!
Thank you and if you do, you'll probably thank me because of the number of people in the same boat as me who will watch and like your videos.

So, let me know when you remove the music so I can actually watch it and be able to join the discussions.

Oh wait, I've already reached out to you in other videos about this issue of inaccessibility. But you're obiously way too busy to be concerned aobut a large population base that need quiet when listening to instructional commentary.
But maybe since this video is quite new, you may actually read my coment and consider allowing me to be able to watch your videos?!?

Thank you and blessings to you.

Single use plastics... trigger 🤣
I work in retail, food packaging etc single use plastics are far better than the ones that never see the consumer. I stock a lot of products with plastic wrappers that need to be removed before they go on the shelf. Quite a few have transitioned to thin paper to protect the products from transport scuffing and scrapes but there are still far too many that pack in plastic that never even sees the consumer.

I use polypropylene gallon jugs foir storing drinking and plant/animal watering waters for years (each jug used for years)... I would use glass except they are no longer readily available and polypropylene usually has fewer amounts of plasticizers and fillers than other plastics do...

As the world's population and economy expanded we were bound to meet these problems because the Earth is largely an isolated system. It's a very big one which was why for a long time humans had a seemingly insignificant footprint on its ecology. Now our population is rapidly increasing, it is much easier to see just how closely related to its ecology we are instead of being separate from it.

While I think its great for new innovations for food packaging and grocery bags, but we were using paper for both forever, and paper is biodegradable and recyclable and a lot of food is still packaged in it. So just stop using plastic for grocery bags and most food, directly reducing waste.

Hemp, kudzo, cotton, any non-edible plant that we can make stuff from competes for arable land that could be used to grow edible crops. Are we really willing to starve people to make carry-out bags?
You didn't mention the energy requirements for these alternatives. One of the biggest reasons we make stuff out of plastic is that it is just sooo bloody cheap to make. So cheap that recycling plastic costs way more than making it from scratch. OTOH look at all the plastic bottles we throw out, those are usually made from plastics that are fairly cheap and easy to recycle but we throw them out anyway. Maybe we do need packaging materials that will compost with a simple additive because we can't be bothered to recycle.

What I think is that it isn't really a matter of consumer preference for most of these. With packaging, your average consumer just doesn't know what it is that projects their product until they open it. And accepting it, these materials will slowly find more and more use as they get cheaper until they reach a threshold of costing as much as regular plastics and then they'll just be everywhere.

I'll keep this short but your're wrong about daily water consumption (or your LARQ app is flat out lying to you for likes, essentially). I'll post a plurb because I can't post a link here to a McGill University article defining their research. McGill University: " The actual notion of 8 glasses a day originates from a 1945 US Food and Nutrition Board which recommended 2.5 litres of daily water intake. But what is generally forgotten from this recommendation is, firstly, that it was not based on any research and that secondly the recommendation stated that most of the water intake could come from food sources." In the elaboration, you learn fun things like how we still lose water to sweat in cold climates, but it is nearly pure water and doesn't stink becuase it lacks they mostly oily sweat from different sweat glands that react when we're hot or exerting ourselves, physically or mentally. Love you!
