Hi Lisa, any tips on how to get these 3 notes, high B in 2nd, C in 1st, and D in 1st
ОтветитьI can’t play D on the 6th octave, and the song I am playing requires me to. My lips hurt I can’t reach that.
ОтветитьThankyou lisa
ОтветитьCan some define what a partial is?
ОтветитьGreat trombone pedagogy. Looks like you might be using a Bach #5 mouthpiece, with a King
3B. I use a Bach #5 with a King 2B (circa 1965). I get somewhat the same thing in the upper register.
However, I think "relax and pinch". The lip muscles clamp on the airstream, and the air is trying to
force the lips open, a la Glenn Dodson. This works in the middle and lower registers also. Are you a classically trained trombonist?
Como hago para resistencia
ОтветитьGummies work well too..
ОтветитьThank you so much, Lisa, that concept of directing the airstream downwards, in a certain angle, according to the pitch one wishes to reach, instead of forwards is working great for me and is, by far, the most effortless method of getting access to the upper range/high register that I have come across so far. The next thing I have to work on is sound quality, because reaching high notes is one thing, but to have them sound full and nice, is another challenge.
ОтветитьGood exercise and video. Only critique is that your high notes end with lack of breath stop/support which makes the note ending fall off pitch. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьLisa, your right on the money on this one......relax for sure.....just look at Dave Steinmeyer when he's nailing the upper range....no flinch, struggle, just cool and smooth
ОтветитьHi Lisa , im 3 yrs back playing after too many yrs away from playing , lost my front teeth , no teeth this time round 😳I love these tutorials Slurring is boss and i play over the rainbow in F 😊
ОтветитьJust started today and this helps so much
ОтветитьJust watched your beautiful video. I am wondering how much your advice to "relax" applies to the embouchure itself. The fact that it takes months or years to develop an upper register suggests that the embouchure muscles have to get stronger. Also, it is usually the embouchure muscles that get tired when working on range, suggesting tension among these muscles. This would seem to suggest that the embouchure muscles must tense up somewhat in order to develop these muscles. In addition to directing the air downward and raising the tongue I am wondering what exactly should be going on, the feeling, with the embouchure during range development? Thank you so much.
ОтветитьVery good video, thanks for sharing this very helpful content.
ОтветитьSuch good information. You really help with so few words. Very intuitive. Excellent teacher.
ОтветитьLisa the "O" to "E" was explained excellently! my keeper was something I ve been working on like, forever: R E L A X I N G the throat while keeping the air column strong and moving. well done!
ОтветитьDefinitely helpful thank you very much.
ОтветитьIs there a way to submit some videos to you for critique? I been teaching myself trombone but I have been playing tuba since seventh grade. Just want some tips
ОтветитьI’ll bet that her students are improving rapidly - solid fundamentals and an encouraging yet inspiring approach.
ОтветитьAwesome video. I've been away from the horn for a few months and it was good to hear and see some reminders while getting back to it from great players like you and Dion Tucker. Appreciate you! 🎶
ОтветитьDefinitely turned on the “all notifications” option (in the subscription button) for your channel which is super rare for me! Kudos!
ОтветитьNice job all around, thanks!! Also nice Chapters layout in the "Show more" button!
ОтветитьThanks L. 4 God sakes please put some reverb in your mic or record in a better place .
ОтветитьSuper
ОтветитьVery good exercises for the high register !
ОтветитьTHANK YOU. I'm fixing to turn 70 and am learning Bugle, Trumpet, & Slide Trombone. I love to play music, but my guitar playing went out the window with the Carpal Tunnel surgery, ten years ago! I bought a Harbor Freight Bugle, just to hang on the wall for aesthetics, but curiosity overtook me, to see if I could squeeze any notes out of it. Then my grandson bought a Slide Trombone and brought it up here, so, I figure, it wouldn't hurt to see if I could blow a note on it...well, I went in a pawn shop, to see what was in there and saw a Trumpet, in a nice case. It had bell damage and a dent or two and one of the note valve buttons was missing. I figured Id repair the dents and find what thread pattern the key note buttons used and silver solder some brass screws onto three Nickles and customize my horn a tad. I'm watching every video I can, on forming my lips like a ghoul. And the old adage of when you're not able to do something...the adage is, "You're NOT holding your mouth right!" So you have taught me just one more piece of the puzzle, and three different ways to accomplish it !!! I take notes and save URL's of where I get them, for future reference! THANK YOU again. I subscribed with all notifications. You "SOUND" like you know what you're talking about!
Bill, from Tn. 🇺🇸
What about the F just past 3rd position? Then E to E from 2nd to just past 4th, etc..
Trombone is awesome!
Nice work Lisa! I get a lot form your teaching and I recommend your channel to others. Please keep it up!
Thanks for your good recommendation.
ОтветитьExcelente 👌
ОтветитьI'm a professional musician who just started playing trombone about 6 weeks ago. I'm coming along very well with the rubank book, but I'm having a difficult time getting anything higher than an F. That's f two lines in a space above staff in bass clef. I'm using a blessing 6.5 Al or a Conn 3, however the effect is still the same nothing higher than an app without extreme struggle. Is there a different mouthpiece I could use that would be better for this or do I just need to practice more?
ОтветитьGreat info !! Thank you so much !!!!!!
Just watched you for the third time, I get more out of it each time. 😊❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I love what Bill Watrous said “Everything happens inside the mouthpiece” when talking about what I call “making dimples” as we go higher.
Cheers and thanks again.
Steve
Its so very helpful, thanks for the great idea,🎶👍🙏
ОтветитьJe m'abonne pour la qualité des vidéos et le coté cool et sympathique que dégage Lisa !!!👍👍👍
ОтветитьThanks u sound good up there. Keep going 💪
ОтветитьI was trying to write from trombones and found out that it was limiting my sampler to C5 and I needed it to go to Db5 so I was making sure that it was possible. 😂 Thanks! =D
ОтветитьThanks God girl could u use a different mic set up , , it sounds stuffy an alittle off . U are a better player then this , and if u are going to be doen these lessons come on .and I do appciate.
ОтветитьThanks oh she sounds like that part in the wizard of ozz when they was marching in the castle 🏰 OO ee oo
ОтветитьReally good tips. I can't wait to try them. Thank you!
Ответитьi dont always play low. but when i do, i still play high. ;-) thanks this is very helpful!
ОтветитьThe third partial B flat in first position is as high as I can go😔
ОтветитьThanks for this video it'll help me alot, because I am struggling with A flat I know it's kinda sad lol.
ОтветитьPhil Wilson´s exercise.... got the copy somewhere
ОтветитьJust found your channel. Great advice! I may be interested in lessons. Ive been playing for about 40 years off and on but have never been able to play consistsntly in the higher registers.
ОтветитьThanks for this video Lisa. Range extension is one of my main challenges. Your energy and encouraging style is as helpful as the exercises themselves. I'm heading for the practice room right now.
ОтветитьMuito bom!!👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьInstead of falling off everything above a top D, see how long you can hold it for and finish it clean. That gives you real strength and helped my high chops really well. Also I firmly believe you don’t have the note until you can play it at all dynamics, articulations and also with vibrato. Try and find high F in 2nd. It’s amazing for vib.
