What was funny about this was before this happened the pirates had Contreras picked off but allowed him to get to 2nd safely. Then this happened and during both players the pirates broadcast we’re interviewing the pirates manager. They pretty quickly ended the interview. To make matters worse Baez ended up scoring on the next play, and Anderson the pitcher had to throw a lot more pitches.

It's worth it watching Rizzo double over laughing.

The single dumbest thing about this play: he got home.

Couldn't the first basement just have backed up three steps and touched the bag? Why go into a run-down?

I know this is the most idiotic play in baseball history, but shouldn't the batter going to first be out since when he was trying to avoid the tag, he stepped over the batter's box and in front of home plate when running back towards home?

I wonder how many errors were scored, there were plenty of bone head infielders to go around.

An overlooked stupidity is the failure of the second baseman to at least get himself into position to cover first base. He didn't need to stay rooted to second base throughout the entirety of the play.

The funniest thing I’ve ever seen is when Baez signaled safe and then took off for first base

All the 1st baseman had to do was step on the bag to get out of the inning and not give up another run. Like how is he in the MLB?! Lol!!!!!!! 😂

This Is Exactly why I stopped watching Sports ! I was Born in 1950 ! Watched Baseball and Football ! Religiously from the Age of 7 to the Age of 66 yrs old ! I stopped watching because the Quality of Sports Today Football Is like watching 4 yr olds play ! They can’t catch they can’t tackle ! Baseball you get plays like this ! They make $$$Millions for poor. Playing ! The Big reason they Disrespect our Country !

As someone with very casual baseball knowledge, I love this. You don't even need to follow the sport closely to think "why the hell didn't he just tag first, what's he going to do run back to his bat and try again?"
