Salient advice. I bought a Peugeot 308 1.2 and my first turbo. NEVER AGAIN. YES the car is great on gas but has a love affair...not with me but WITH OIL! How does 1L every 1,500 kms sound in a very well maintained car with only 91,000 kms? DON'T DO IT!
Ответитьturbo engines are horrible...naturally aspirated for me....whoever invented turbo engines ..what were you thinking?
ОтветитьShort answer NO
ОтветитьDo cars with turbos are harder to change spark plugs?
ОтветитьHi Scotty. You really should update this video since auto companies and engineers have greatly improved the Turbo technology and some have become a delight to drive with all the power delivery, almost no lag and very reliable if you change the oil as recommended by the owners manual. Go for it Scotty!
ОтветитьLove the old intro.
ОтветитьTurbo cars get better gas milage. My 300ZX gets 24mpg with 400hp and driving the mess out of it. A turbo was invented to make the engine keep the same amount of air at high altitude so it does not lose power like a supercharger or natural aspired engine. First turbo was tested in 1955 at Pikes Peak Colorado. At 8,000 feet you lose about 30% power. At 16,000 feet you lose over 50% power. Now if you live in the Rocky Mountains or Ozarks you do want a turbo. You need a turbo diesel truck in the Rockies. These supercharged V8s don't have power at high altitude because they lose power and are still heavy. Imagine driving a 6000 pound 300hp Cheverolet truck with 150hp at 12,000 feet, and it can't pull a RV trailer up a mountain.
ОтветитьIt takes the clatter out of a diesel, and makes them more efficient.
ОтветитьGood advice
Ответитьis this still true in 2023
ОтветитьThere is no replacement for displacement...
ОтветитьI'm cheap like you. 😂
ОтветитьLet me guess if it’s diesel you gotta run premium diesel too 😂 so that turbo works more efficiently.
ОтветитьI can give you 420 reasons to have a turbo 420bhp reasons 🤣🤣
ОтветитьI take my naturally aspirated engine any day of the week 💪😁
Ответить216k and still boosting strong in my 04 Forester xt, like you said it's my money and I'll waste it how I want lol. 88k on the turbo cartridge. I think it's fair to say that like anything else they can last with proper maintenance and not being beat
ОтветитьYou never have to replace a turbo that your car never had..
ОтветитьHere in Europe there is no possibility to buy a new car without turbo, diesel or petrol. It is interesting that in USA they are still alowed to produce cars without turbo.
ОтветитьI think it was Keith Duckworth of Cosworth Engines who once said “ turbo engines are created for engineers that can’t design a good engine “ .
ОтветитьAll this video told me was why to love a turbo😂😂😂
ОтветитьScotty Shame on you! The Ford Focus never ever ever had a turbo! How can you look at that engine and say it has a turbo? Come on man take this crap video down. 1.4 million views on this lie
Ответитьi finally found Scotty's famous thumbnail! 🎉
ОтветитьThis guy talks like hes half def and drank 8 cups of coffee before 10am
ОтветитьSo...to buy, or NOT to buy?
ОтветитьIf I don’t drive like a maniac, I guess turbo is ok.
ОтветитьScotty having the 2021 mazda cx5 turbo is no good only 3400 mile and engine oil run low.
ОтветитьYou have a saved me so much money. I was going to buy a Ford Taurus sho. Not anymore.
ОтветитьBecause scotty is old and turbos are a new thing. It's ok we forgive you
ОтветитьThank you.
ОтветитьTurbo lag is definitely still a thing, believe me.
ОтветитьScotty only wants to work and talk about factory/OEM cars/parts. Nothing wrong with that at all. I have a stage 3 apr tune on my Audi and only 2 shops out of the 15 to 20 shops in my town won’t even touch my car because of the upgrades. At first I hated that but I’ve come to respect mechanics like this.
ОтветитьIt's best to listen to Scotty.
He doesn't get paid by anyone.
Turbo charged engine needs special care.
ОтветитьTurbocharge cars are pretty solid. The issue is they last a little shorter then a narturally aspirated one, but still if you do the maintenance a turbo car lasts pretty well. And you still got to do maintanance regardless of turbo or non turbo sooner or later.
ОтветитьI wished I watched this video before buying my stupid Lincoln navigator with the dual terrible chart
Ответитьi wonder how people from mad max´s wasteland found engine oil and other stuff to keep their vehicles working.
ОтветитьCan you use AT 205 stop leak on a 2.0 turbo tsi engine?
ОтветитьDon't buy a turbocharged car because it cooks your oil AND it's a tight tolerance part that can (and will) fail.
ОтветитьYou're right on Scotty. I'll never buy an unreliable turbocharged vehicle which has higher maintenance. They require more frequent oil and spark plug changes and have a history of developing oil dilution problems after their warranties expire, which are very costly to repair. So, if the vehicle has a turbo engine, then I'm not buying! And I'm buying a new non turbo crossover within a year. I want total reliability, which you definitely don't get with turbos!
ОтветитьAfter watching scottys videos I have determined I will not buy cars anymore
ОтветитьShould I by a turbo Lexus?
ОтветитьNext on Scotty Kilmer,
Turbocharged Cars Are The Best Thing Since Curly Fries!
I wonder if the guy who owned that blue mustang knows why his tires have flat spots on them now…
Ответитьyeah that is the reason I want to keep my car at least 10 years
ОтветитьHater
ОтветитьYou get better mpg when the turbo isnt being used. The turbo is to make that small engine more practical by giving it more power. This video doesn't make any damn sense..
ОтветитьMost cars are turbocharged though,
ОтветитьShould people be concerned about a naturally aspirated engine at altitude because of reduced power?
ОтветитьLove this guy. Super enthusiastic. Just fun to watch!
