Aikido documentary with André Nocquet and Morihei Ueshiba (1964) with English subtitles

Commencement de la recherche du Kototama pour Ueshiba Moriheï O Senseï
Lorsque le couple Nakanishi, Kôun et Seiun O Senseï approfondissaient leurs ascèses ( 7 ans et 8 mois, de 1935 à 1943),ils reçurent la visite et la demande de ce maître martial, déjà connu et réputé
par ses faits de guerre et sa formation reçue du grand Maître Takeda : Cette rencontre fut organisée à Oyama d'Itabashi à Tôkyô, en 1939, par un homme de la Secte Omoto, nommé Akazawa Zengoru, habitant Iwama Machi, dans le Département d'Ibaraki car Ueshiba O Senseï s'était préalablement converti à la religion « Omoto » le 7 de l'ère Taishô (Juillet 1912 à décembre 1926), donc en 1918.
C'est d'ailleurs à cette même époque de « Taishô » qu'il accompagna en Mongolie, en qualité de « garde du corps», le révérend Deguchi Onisaburo .
Mais, à la suite d'un accident à Pantara dont il réchappe, il décide à son retour au Japon de quitter le mouvement Omoto pour se consacrer à une recherche profonde du Budô : C'est ainsi qu'il se met en quête de retrouver Nakanishi Seiun O Senseï .
Après deux tentatives infructueuses qui interviennent en pleines ascèses au Mont Katsuragi de Nara ils ne peuvent l'accepter comme disciple. Ueshiba O Senseï insiste alors auprès de Kôun Nakanishi O Senseï, son conscrit de Ayabe, afin de voir sa demande acceptée par Seiun O senseï, tant son besoin d'éveil, pour sa Pratique du Budô, est «urgent et primordial»!
Décision est alors prise par Seiun O Senseï qui consent à accueillir Ueshiba Moriheï comme disciple pour lui enseigner le secret de l'Esprit du « Guerrier de l'âme » Ame no Takemusu, et en particulier la différence , entre «Kiaï et Aïki ».
Plus tard, la Guerre du Pacifique commence,,, En 16 de l'ére de Showa, monsieur Akazawa organise la venue du couple Nakanishi à Iwama Machi et dès l'année suivante, Nakanishi Seiun O Senseï, aux côtés de son mari Kôun O Senseï, commence à élucider sérieusement par le Kototama, la base des chroniques anciennes du Japon, le Kojiki !
Cette recherche n'était pas seulement une simple étude mais plutôt unique par son approche concrète, éclairée au fur et à mesure de la recherche, par la Pratique de sons « nettoyants »,
Tandis que Seiun O Senseï exprimait physiquement et de manière sonore, Kôun O Senseï inscrivait et notait minutieusement et chaque « Shinza « durait environ deux ou trois heures.. , à chaque fois !
Chaque ascèse étant renouvelée trois ou quatre fois par journée... Et cette étude de Kototama sur le Kojiki dura jusqu'en 23 de l'ère Showa, c'est à dire 1948!

Repetition is the finest teacher. All the words in the world won't stop you practising Aikido once you're into it. Unless you try it you will never grasp how effective it is. Do yourself a favour, take your bravado to a club and be humbled. Luck and love to you!

Great video!! Aikido has such a great flow to it. The more you relax the better you become. Ueshiba was a genius in martial arts! Aikido is a great way to stay fit in old age.

It's cool nowadays to poke fun at Aikido but I have gotten so much out of this art it's not even funny. Just got done training with the Bo. I feel so light and powerful. Next up is the Bokken than some light solo taisabaki. I love O-Sensei and Aikido's message and philosophy. Been training since the summer of 1995. Keep training, Aikidoka!

Brilliant documentary ...captures the art ..i am sick of seeing the disrespect being aimed at Aikido and other traditional systems in this modern climate ...makes me angry !

J'ai eu l'occasion de pratiquer un peu l'aïkido, c'est une très agréable discipline, sans rapports de forces ni de compétitions comme au judo, mais similaire au taïchi et au yoga pour la philosophie, habitant pendant un moment Toulouse, j'ai vu une affiche où ceux qui veulent pratiquer avant d'aller au travail (bureau ou autre) sont encouragés à le faire. Pour ceux qui pratiquent avant le travail, les relations humaines en seraient changés dans le bon sens.
Et de ne plus faire attention aux esprits chagrins, et affinitaires, mais essayer de faire un avec ce qui nous entoure. ( à Toulouse l'entrainement au dojo était entre 7 et 8 heures du matin).
Aujourd'hui, seul la nostalgie reste, ainsi que le souvenir, avec les années qui passent, la
discipline intacte.

Watching this old film footage is great. The martial arts has changed
alot over the years. Back then it was about honour and respect. It was a
study through the education of the martial arts. The fighting arts are
always there - that is obvious. However, to focus on the accomplishments
and the learning process should be the goal. Perfection is realizing
that there is no perfection. If you focus on perfecting your skills and
self growth , its hard to think about the fighting aspect. Utilizing the
martial arts to help people to grow or teaching values to people is by
far a greater asset. Thanks for this video it brings us back.

I was privileged to see one of these extraordinary men when I was young, the demonstration was this physically small Japanese man against one entire American football team. The entire team came at him together, all of them at once. They lost. The lesson stuck.
