I played survival mode and got a job cutting wood for the mill. Bought food, slept in the Inn. Was actually pretty nice for a bit. When I did start going out questing it felt way more fun than the 1000 other times I did previously.

After over a year of not playing Skyrim I‘m currently reinstalling and modding. This video hyped me up even more.

This makes me want to fire up Skyrim and get to farming/mining/slaving and save up to buy a house. Maybe a modest divine cities and villages house instead of vanilla. Then maybe save up more and work on building a hearthfire house.. that will for sure be a grind. All while doing no main quests. I’m so used to having a modded house waiting for me from the start so this seems like a refreshing way to play. Also what mod is the golden hill plantation from? And is the recruiting farmers part of it?

What armor mod are you using? The iron armor is different from the vanilla one....

So what do you do afterwards? Just start a new character with a different goal in mind? Any long term projects? This looks fun but I always end up using console commands or something instead of any grinding. I also like play as "not the Dragonborn" but that also means not touching any MQs and most side quests but them I'm like wtf is there to do. Imagination is not easy sometimes. Anyway, glad I'm not the only one. I thought everyone's idea of RP was just another "build" and making different choices but you're still the Dragonborn. I like the idea of being a simple soldier, hunter, farmer (selling crops as only source of gold maybe), etc. 😅

People probably already said it somewhere here, but the reason you could take all of Katla's food was because turning in crops or firewood to an NPC automatically raises your relationship rank with them to the point you can take their stuff worth under 30 gold 😂

The true experience to play Skyrim for me is when I turn on survival mode in legendary difficulty, with tons of mods I don't need any other games. Thanks todd, it just works
