Who build bridges with bricks?
I am from Nagaland. We get the lowest money of all states & UT in India. We started working with bricks, cement, sand only after the arrival of british in the region... Basically reinforced concrete knowledge is very new, foreign & young in our state but still I have never ever come across any bridge's supporting columns and pillars made of brick walls. Even bridges build by common people (colonies & villages) pulling their resources (man labour, materials or monetary compensations) without engineers and architects (again we can't afford them) do not take such extreme cost cutting as we see in the video. Unfortunately due to the lack of funds, the government isn't a big player in the states. It is very common in Nagaland for colonies household members to collect money every month until they saved up enough to cut & maintain their own road, build their own bridges & lay their own asphalt pavements without the governments help. The government doesn't have enough money to even take care of the existing roads. The money is so so low that about 65% of the whole Nagaland's state budget alone goes on paying the salaries of the state employees. With the remaining 35% in the budget their isn't much the state government can do even if they'd wanted. So looking at the financial state of the state, it hard to protest against the government because their are also other areas other than road & bridges where the government have to show up. I can't really complain regardless of how the rating agencies rate our state. We live and breathe here so we know the challanges & the hardship better than the rating agencies. Those state ranking agencies sees things thought their own lenses and one can't blame them either.
