Great movie. Thank you very much. One thing - if you show something with a sideways expression, remember to flip it because the low frequency is on the right side of the screen for followers ;) LOL

Great explanation of the Limiter! In my case, I was only using the Limiter on my Main and didn't realize I should also use on the individual Buses which really helped with my overall song loudness which I was struggling. It also seemed to help me solve some kick drums issues I was having getting right. Thank you!

After experimenting with digital clippers and limiters I have found that I prefer tape & AD converter (with soft clipping)

Dynamic range died with home studios pushing compression and clippers to the limit and dub step became mainstream :*( not hating, just feeling robbed of good music being replaced with loud & agressive sounds instead of hearing golden craftsmanship...

Irgendein Vollidoot scheint meinen RMS Level in den negativen Bereich verlegt zu haben. Und das in ALLEN Songs, die ich seit 2019 jemals gemacht habe ! Was soll ich bloss tun !?

I feel like these diagrams are kinda misleading, bc they show the wave itself changing shape. compressors and limiters don’t just squash the top of the waveform. They turn down the entire wave uniformly when it goes above the threshold.

Clippers can be better than limiters, limiters usually destroy transients. Clips retain and enhance them. I used to use limiters on a lot of stuff now I only used them now and them and very lightly and only on certain things.

Can I ask , once you add the limiter, you say to turn up the volume so the peak is the same that was before limiter , do you turn up the volume via the limiter - Gain ? Or the volume fader?

I tried applying the limiter technique to my individual tracks but through gain staging and giving myself enough headroom they mostly sit around -18 db RMS and -12 peak. I would have to apply a alot of gain to each individual track in order to push the signal into the limiter. This is causing my peaks to be around -4 to -6 db which seems quite a lot for an individual track. What am I getting wrong here?

When you talk about raising the volume after applying the limiter do you mean the fader volume, the actual instrument volume or adding gain or does it mean the volume automatically raises.?

I've heard that "low frequencies take up a lot of energy" before, but I don't know what that means? Does that mean that they're hogging a lot of dB's even though our ears can't hear them as well re: equal loudness contours?

For clips before going for limiters or compressor you can control. the dynamic rannge using fade in and fade outs. Ususally peak is coming from trasiennt part of the signal which can be reduce using fading . Found better sounds when compressor user for toning.

Hello. But what if I use a bus compressor after I panned, leveled, and balanced my mix? And let's say I also what to bring up the RMX level so I use a Limiter too, especially first and then my mix bus comp.

I rarely compress within the mix itself, unless it's just to control some peaks. I generally use compression (multiband) on the mastering stage
