Literally my 2nd ever playthrough of this game was as byzantium (my first being sweden). There is no way byzantium is even remotely on the same level of difficulty as armenia. After you take back your cores, Byzantium is a regional power. Meanwhile, armenia has a tiny economy, no access to trade, strong allies, nor enough manpower to wage war against most neighbours. Byzantium is fun, but in terms of difficulty, there is no contest here.

In my recent Ajam->Persia game , when I was fighting Qara Qoyunlu, the Karabkhi AI gave me a peace deal where they would break free, I accepted it. Now they own most of Modern-day Azerbaijani . Great job Karabakh!
