dont put poison out in the evening, animals might walk through it before it dries
ОтветитьI don't know how I haven't seen your channel and videos before. Incredible tips and love the way you explain things. Thanks!
ОтветитьHowever here in south Cali you HAVE to at least lightly shower the lawn at peak hours to reduce temperature , not water, you're right , but try to lower the extreme temperatures , I'm talking 120 degrees July and august.
ОтветитьSaying not to water during the hottest times of the day is like saying don’t drink water while working out.
We know that it’s not getting to the root but it will reduce the heat stress. So in this heat if you have an irrigation system I’d do quick 3-5 min sprays 1 or 2 times a day to keep the sun from scorching you lawn
Great advice. Just saved me by 40mins❤ from raking up the heat stressed Texas grass!!! video9:00am
ОтветитьWhere is Jesse? Hasn't had a video in a month..... 😢
ОтветитьThanks for the tips Jesse. Which herbicide/s were you applying that you needed rubber boots, goggles and respirator? Would it not be children and pet friendly?
ОтветитьHey man, I was looking for your video on Diesel EF.
Did it go away?
I don’t see it :(
I disagree with the watering at peak heat. If you aren’t putting enough water in the morning to cause fungus, a short cooling layer of water can keep the grass from dormancy. Imo
ОтветитьWho do you recommend to watch for southern warm grass specifically bermuda? I worry that your more specific recommendations in Minnesota won't apply to the dirty south. Although I think your channel is probably the best I have ever seen.
Ответитьlove your content. came back looking for the def video and see it's gone??!!! What happened?
ОтветитьJesse just ordered my first Twin City Seed PRG. Excited to add some quality cultivar into my lawn!! Juiced bro thank you
ОтветитьWhat kentucky bluegrass seed mix do have? About to do a huge renovation
ОтветитьYardBrah, or Jeffrey Balatbat Mendoza, is a convicted child sex offender!
ОтветитьGreat recommendations for heat and lawn. There is another I would suggest and that is to increase the mow height of the lawn. Keeping it taller shades the crowns and keeps it healthy.
One question though: how do I tell dormant from fungus patch?
Thank you
So many say that grass is only dormant, yet mine has died and does not come back for over a year. I began to give it at least some water (conservation and cost), and it has been much better.
ОтветитьThese are great tips! Even better when the tips are from your home state.
My suggestion is to do a video on how to determine when grass is dead or just burnt from the heat. 😊
I work on second shift and I don’t get up until noon so I only time I can water my plants and lawn are around 1 pm 😂✌🏽
Ответитьwhat if its still 100 degrees at 11pm ?
Ответить"The Lon" lol
ОтветитьLol whats hot to you??? Us landscapers have to mow at 120 degrees in PHX AZ. Grass grows back in a week. Also golf courses cut the grass really short. Im presuming your talking about certain types of lawn.
Ответитьok so i have been watching your videos for some time now, all well and good you have an amazing lawn, but now what negative impacts does a perfect lawn have?, wouldn't all the mowing scare off or kill insects thus decreasing bird population? and most grasses also flower in late spring/ early summer, so no more pollinating insects? so all well and good your grass is alive and looking amazing, but at what cost and how can we reverse those effects?
ОтветитьMy water bill is fixed and I am on secondary. We had record snowfall. I am sending it on water this summer. Lawn is digging it.
ОтветитьI keep my St. Augustine tall, cut it it on the highest deck of my mower. Its braving these 103 degree days like a champ. I have a few hot spots that I water manually with a water house every other day but other then that its thriving even in this heat
ОтветитьTop Dressing improved my Zoysia big time
ОтветитьWhy y’all like grass that low sheesh 🤣
ОтветитьI cut my grass short as I don't have to cut it every week. Lol!
ОтветитьIs topper black dirt?
ОтветитьThx for advice I was wondering is it okay to water the lawn like between 5-8am in the morning because most people go to work between 6-8am in the morning I keep my lawnmower height at 3 inches and the grass still grows decent plus I like to mow my lawn like early morning before it gets hot in the afternoon so I won't catch a heat stroke
ОтветитьI recently bought a new build about 2yrs. Ive been struggling with some dry areas and very compacted soil. What do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьGreat Lawn! But ya....don't be that guy who mows before 9am on the weekend, and please don't mow past 9 on ANY day of the week. Nobody wants to hear a mower at dusk.
Ответитьplant clover, problem solved
Ответить#6 Don't fertilize with too much nitrogen. You don't want to push the growth too much when it's hot.
ОтветитьWhat can you tell me about watering in the evening, EVERY lawncare specialist in my area (SC) says the SAME thing, don't water in the evenings because it can lead to fungus growth. Please educate me on your thoughts that it's ok to water in the evening, thanks!
ОтветитьCan I use Scott's Weed and Feed during the summer? Spread it out in the evening when the sun isn't directly hitting it?
ОтветитьI did all those mistakes and now it's all dying. lol
ОтветитьQuestion for you, Sir. I’ve been mulching rather than bagging my clippings this season, and cutting the grass higher. The lawn seems to love it… thicker, crowds out weeds, greener. So should I follow this as a SOP or go back to bagging at some point?
ОтветитьIn Russia lawn mows you
ОтветитьI think mowing in the heat of the day is better than morning or night. When it's hot, the grass sucks its moisture and nutrients down out of the heat. If you cut it then, you are removing less moisture and nutrients. I've been doing this for years and have always had a great lawn. Also, I water right after mowing, it makes my lawn very happy.
ОтветитьI thought everyone knew this.
ОтветитьCommon sense
ОтветитьSo you're saying that it's NORMAL for my grass to turn brown in the summer and I don't have to spend a million dollars to OVER water it?
I have sprinklers set to run every other evening, so water can sink in over night.
Does that seem OK?
I'm trying to kill my back yard lawn. I hate mowing it. So...
1) I cut the backyard super short, usually in the heat of the blazing Texas day. 3pm is best.
2) I use a dull lawnmower blade. it really butchers the grass tops.
3) I spray herbicide blend (6 oz per gallon) - (Roundup mixed with 2, 4 D.
I throw in some solubilized salt water and dish soap;
It's especially good when applied in the heat of the day.
4) I save my urine (about a gallon a day. I have a weighted backyard bucket with a small hole in the bottom. I put the urine bucket over persistent growth and drip the urine onto the grass, weed, or whatever other troublesome growth. The high nitrogen, and uric acid encourages the plant to uptake any liquid herbicide very quickly and die faster.
-
5) Lastly, I get out my weed eater and take grass down to dirt whenever I have extra time.
I always have the the cordless weed eater on stand-by.
-
Is there anything else that you can recommend? Especially for the fence lines?
Some Bermuda grass, Spurge, and Dallas grass desperately try to survive.
I've even seen my neighbor's Bermuda sending runners over into my back yard.
-
On the other hand, I love my fabulous front lawn (curb appeal), and take extra good care of it.
Live in North Texas. Based on recommendation from my fertilizer company a few years ago, started cutting my St Augustine a 4". With the exception of spots where my sprinkler system doesn't cover, the grass does much, much better. Still have too much sidewalk sprinkling so am going to have sprinkler heads moved.
ОтветитьWe have warm season grasses and they need to be cut short, except the st augustine. All of them thrive in the hotest parts of the year.
ОтветитьI've never heard of anyone putting dirt on top of the lawn.
ОтветитьThese are great guidelines to follow. Unfortunately, for people without an irrigation system like me, moving hoses and setting sprinklers around your lawn can be an all day affair. I think the most important thing is to know your lawn well enough to be able to recognize the signs of drought and heat stress. I try to only water when I notice my lawn struggling and it's worked out well for me so far.
ОтветитьI don’t know where your from but I water at the hottest time of the day and it works for my lawn.
