13" inch 2020 MacBook Air A2179 Disassembly Trackpad Touchpad Replacement Repair

i spilled something on my trackpad a couple months ago. the trackpad is prone to sometimes clicking on things when i didn't mean it to but i can move the cursor around and it responds to all other commands of the trackpad. However i don't hear the clicking noise of the trackpad. Do you think that if i open up and clean the MacBook air, i might be able to get some gunk out or maybe resolve the problem. The clicking on its own gets annoying from time to time, but i wasn't going to pay 299 to replace it from apple so let me know. I can use the computer without a mouse most of the time and i was just wondering if i do really need to replace it or if i check it out and clean it i can maybe resolve it.

Thanks so much! It worked. I spilled tea 3 times in 5 days and damaged the trackpad. I replaced it and the cable ( which looks ok) and here I am! If I can do it ( 63 year old lady) anyone can. I got parts from iFix it. Great tip about using tape to center it. Thanks for the very helpful video.

Does it matter if i have slightly different model? a2337 M1, or the insides are the same?
Also if i found corrosion inside how should i clean it?

brother all of a sudden my keyboard and trackpad stopped working...when i run diagnostic it says no error?keyboard keys can be pressed cuz the computer starts..but in login it doesnt work..do you have any idea?

Hey i have a macbook pro m1 2021 256gb 8gb 13 inch. Everything is working but the Trackpad is not.

I did reinstall the macos and updated all the software but still didn't work

I though the Trackpad was damaged but i took that same trackpad and put it on another macbook same model and it worked now i have no idea what to do

I did smc reset, safe mode and diagnosed hardware the only error i got was NDR005. still dont know where the problem is

I have a quick question, my wife spilled coffee near the trackpad, I was hoping after taking the trackpad out and cleaning it, it would work properly however the right side of the trackpad does not seem to be clickable, there is no audible sound nor do I feel a click when I press down, does that mean the trackpad got ruined from one side or do I need to play with adjusting screws when reinstalling?

Did your A and D keys worked after this replacement ?

My MacBook doesn’t click, if i replace it with another one, there’s need to do a software thing o just replace the trackpad?

How about the keyboard? I spilled water on it and want to replace it but I couldn’t find any resource online talking about the m1 keyboard

One question: I also spilled some liquid on the computer. Now my problem is that the keyboard/trackpad stop working after the computer wakes from sleep. So I have to prevent it from going to sleep otherwise I have to hard reset it. Do you know if replacing the trackpad will solve this issue as well ?
