When you look at it, and remove Kirby, Zero is a metaphor of depression. Endless darkness, endless night, a world anathema to light. He is trapped, feeling only misery, it is the only thing he can feel. He knows his fate, to be destroyed. he knows his end is near. But he welcomes it. He destroys, because he knows he has no choice. As someone who suffered through extreme anxiety and suicidal thoughts, I resonate with him.
