I know in demon souls I beat plenty of strength build players that used a dragonbone smasher with a Sharp kiji, large sword of searching and sharp Uchigatana I think. In Elden ring i beat a dual wielding great sword user with just a bloody halice lol

in terms of efficiency str sucks. dex has more dps and more attack windows. as I remember, in my last run with rapier I've just stunlocked her (NPC in video) to death. also, END in ds1 is op - there is no really reason to not invest to it, so dex build shines in armor with eager pokes landing.

but actually, I like slow weapons (which are usually quality or str), but prefer them with relatively light armor (one that allows to fast roll at 40 END) - it makes game less efficient, but more fun.

Everyone talking shit on Dex users, meanwhile the dude went half thru the npc’s health bar when he wasn’t even on agro with him. This is the mentality of a strengh user:

People who started with Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring don't understand the extent to which Dark Souls 1 Strength builds were actually straight-up baby game mode in PvE. Poise reigned supreme over everything and with heavy enough armor you were almost literally unstoppable

Even tho ds1 is not my favorite souls game, i like the fact that in ds1 you can do tank build. Doing tank build is not the same anymore/even a thing anymore. Even tho tank build in ds1 is the hidden easy mode, i still like the fact that the opinion is there. Regardless that that you have to go out of ur way to die when doing a build like this🤷

As much as i see your point pve and pvp are two very different fields. For pve big damage on a slow weapon wprks wonders bit in pvp a weapon that slow is at a disadvantage and weapons that don't have a good sweeping attack are at an even bigger disadvantage. Weapons like the Zweihänder while still relatively slow are far faster than that, get good damage and have a big sweeping attack ao it can catch side rolls or people who walk a bit to the side.. relatively small hitboxes absolutely kill slow weapons making them some of the leasy viable weapons for pvp while small hitboxes on fasy weapons barely matter because fast weapons can iust attack again.

For DS1 I did Dex with a splash of Miracles, in DS2 I'm doing Str with a splash in Pyromancy and for DS3 I'm thinking about Dex and Sorceries. Now that I've done both, Str is definitely fun but I'm still leaning towards Dex

PvE: STR > DEX > SEX
PvP: STR < DEX > SEX

DS3 is trash compared to DS1, makes no sense that a Short Sword could stagger someone in a strong full suit of armor, while hitting only the plate randomly (not even attacking the gaps)
