I Made a 16th Century Kirtle Dress | Without a Real Pattern

Based on the paintings of Beuckelaer and Aertsen, I have sewn myself my first front-lacing 16th century kirtle! Follow along as I cut out the fabric and sew my dress together.

This particular style of kirtle is made from wool (?) with short sleeves, so that the detachable sleeves can be pinned to the sleeves. I have completed the look of this 16th century outfit with a previously made apron, along with a partlet, caul, and hat.
