Even if anyone actually did this, how mad would you be if you didn't wash the whipper after brewing? That'll be some crunchy cold brew....

Even if this weren’t expensive and just a weird way to make cold brew, it’s not even nitro. The wrong gas is used (you need pure nitrogen chargers, they’re typically a mint green colour) and you’d need a special nozzle to push the tiny bubbles into the liquid

Why not use a small funnel to pour in the coffee

A lot of you really didn't pay attention to the video. The recipe doesn't call for 5 charges, it only calls for 1. The other 4 were shown, explicitly, as an alternate option to speed up the cold brew process if you didn't want to wait 24 hours. They, literally start the video saying "our 24 hour fool proof steep method works great for this, but we've found that a cream whipper can also be used to quick brew cold brew concentrate under pressure. Cutting the brew time down to just over an hour." They're just giving you options.

Usually the ATK comments section is a lot more sensible than this, but for this particular video apparently people just tuned al the info given at the beginning.

Wow I had no idea you could make cold brew in an hour. That is neat. I'll stick with the 24 hour method but it's nice to know how I can make it in a pinch. I love nitrous infused cold brew. It's my favorite coffee experience.

Made the brew the usual cold slow way but tried the gas infusion at the end. The result was extremely frothy. Did i shake for too long?

This is a dumb way to do it. You should just make regular cold brew, pour it in the whipper, charge with a single cartridge, and pour it out of the nozzle instead of just releasing all the gas by taking off the lid.

WTF? I think she's been inhaling nitrogen that's leaking from all of the canisters she's been using.
They should've made the video into 2 DISTINCT parts: Part 1 non-speedy method to completion, then part 2, speedy method. 2nd comment: To charge, then discharge, then recharge, makes no sense. The coffee in the vessel will only absorb a certain amount of nitro. If you are releasing pressure, then there is plenty of nitro left in the vessle.. adding another cartrige is doing NOTHING BUT WASTING NITRO CANISTERS. ASK anyone that uses C02 to make soda pop at home. They don't keep changing canisters!

N2O and n2 are totally different things lady. You need to use N2 cartridges. you really don't need to waste that many either. You just need one.

Nitrous oxide NO2 and Nitrogen N2 are completely different things! NO2 (nitrous, laughing gas) has medical effects and should be used with caution. Nitrogen N2 is the only proper thing to infuse coffee with.

This is literally the dumbest crap I’ve seen. All that crap you did at the start with 4 nitro canisters does nothing. All the nitrogen will flash off as you’re decanting and filtering. Get a Kegworks uKeg for $170 and do this with 1 cartridge and serve cold brew on tap complete with Guinness like cascade of bubbles etc.

Or people can just do the overnight cold brew then fill up the whipper using 1 nitro charge... it’s a very informative video, but not practical for the average person that wants cold brew.

So if you brew the coldbrew normally beforehand you'd only need to one cartridge for the foam

In other words,
Take equal parts cold brew conentrate and cold filtered water
Fill the container of a cream whipper, and charge it with a canister
Shake
Release the nitrous so you don’t make a mini bomb
Finally, unscrew the top and pour out the nitro cold brew.
To make quick cold brew, use the 5-6 nitrous oxide canisters

Why discharge the gas? Shouldn't you be pouring it through the nozzle to, you know, whip the coffee?...

Looks flat and like a waste of effort.

This was ridiculous. Too many steps and too many nitro chargers. If you do this just start with cold brew coffee - and you should be able to dispense straight from the charger, no pouring. Her versions takes like an hour and then some. I could walk to 3 coffee shops in that amount of time.

Really messed it up proposing making cold-brew concentrate in the whipper instead of the usual process. That is 99% of your complaints. If you just showed how to make just the nitro cold-brew with the usual cold-brew concentrate method, a normal but slow process without so much ridiculous waste, you wouldn't have such a messy comment section.

Swing and a miss by ATK. I can't believe they didn't take this video down and redo it properly with the nitro canister and nitrogen chargers (not nitrous oxide chargers)from iSi. You don't use N20 gas for this. You have to use N2. N2O makes big bubbles that come out of solution in the final drink quickly. N2 is the the one that makes the ultratiny bubbles for proper nitro coffee.

Thanks for the video! Very informative for my use!
I have a nitrogen generator (do not need tanks of gas) and am planning on making my cold brew in a 7 gallon wide mouth Torpedo corny keg to have 5 gallons finished product.
Was definitely wanting to brew with light pressure to have an oxygen free environment but after watching this brewing in a high pressure environment for a quicker brew time makes more sense. I may have to get a TDS meter and experiment. Purging and doing it a second time makes sense too.
I agree this would be expensive using cartridges but I’m only paying for electricity to make my own 99.97% pure nitro using a generator.
