TaylorMade Drivers 2012-2020: Will Modern Tech Win?

Andrew - Have you tried the Burner Superfast 1.0 and 2.0 drivers? I think they're longer than most of the heads you tried on this comparison.

R1 was and still is my favorite driver. I could hit it over 300 yards

R1 tour with two 10 gram weights. Was pure.

Sadly I'm still playing with a TaylorMade Bubble Ti 2 as I've not had a chance to buy a new one.

Not sure what was happening with the SLDR. The "so high" comment is the exact opposite of the way that club is supposed to function. At that loft the apex should still be lower than a standard driver since it is front weighted. Weird.

To be fair, you should have used the R1 a couple more times too. Great video.

I have read that the sim 2 and r11s shaft is compatible, but I guess that is untrue?

Everything I've read on line says the shaft adaptors drom the newer clubs do not fit the R15. I love my R15 but my swing speed has increased and have found multiple shafts from m1-m6 that they say won't fit. You seem to be able to interchange them easily. Do you have a special adaptor?

I have the R11 and I still smash it. Love the look, feel and sound. I’m 62 and even with my old fart swing I’m spanking it out to almost 280-190 yards.

For anyone who wants to properly understand how to hit further - get fitted. The heads make a lot of difference if you miss hit and a good fitter will find a shaft that suits you to a tee. I’ve switched from a XS RDX blue to the old smoke yellow as my miss hits create less spin and go further as a result of being able to control the spin. When I buy one it goes 20 yards further than my best with the RDX.

I realy believe if you wanted to hit any other driver further as you made with the "modern tech" one you'd have made it. It's all gimmicks, all the same, just for showing off at the club.

So basically they're all the same? Picked up a used R1 for 100 bucks and its the best club I've ever hit. And could buy 5 more for the price of the SIM.

I recently got pretty into golf after playing very seldomly over the past 10 years. I'm shooting around 100 and have a SUPER OLD set of clubs. My driver is like 150ccs probably. Smaller than a modern day 3/5 wood. My buddy has an extra taylormade sldr in mint condition. I used it today and hit it decently well. But need more practice. From what I saw you didn't like your sldr ? What's your take on it? From research it was one of the longest hitting of it's time with the very forward CG but it's very unforgiving and not rlly for beginners. Should I stick with it or look for something else ? Not sure if I can beat it for like 40$ from a buddy. I'd like to keep budget under 100$. What u think? Thanks

I still use a Burner Superfast 2.0 from 2011. Blows all of these away IMHO.

Great video man! Up until 2014 I was a mega Taylormade fan boy since I was very young and the R1 for me was my all time favourite! Great to see that one win it!
