I am personally more afraid of chimps than sharks.

When I was a young girl, my great-grandmother had a monkey. She kept him in a large cage on the front porch, in south-central Los Angeles. We hated and I mean hated this monkey. It was so evil. We would be so afraid to go on the porch in fear the monkey would get out. This monkey should never have been kept as a pet. One day, It got out and attacked my uncle and my uncle was a strong, muscular boxer, and he ended up un-living the monkey. I have no idea where my grandmother got that monkey, but I was glad it was gone. It should never have been kept as a "pet" PERIOD!!

There are many orphans in the world waiting for help , adopt ,rise them, but cruel animals .

If Moe was a dog, he would have tried to fight off the chimpanzees to save the couple.

When people think they are so special and better than everyone else they think they are immune from thing's such as wild animal attacks etc etc, they start thinking wild animals see them as different from everyone else. Wild animals etc should be left to be wild and left alone by tourism and the idiots trying to get the perfect picture etc. I've no sympathy for people who are attacked by wild animals......you go into their homes then expect trouble just as you would if you are a burglar etc in a house.

I am sorry him and his wife had to go through this but really, wild animal... and "treated him as a son"! Would you also let your "SON" sleep in a cage?

Chimps behave like this with their own kind. They have disputes and sometimes they die or are injured so bad they die of starvation

Chimps are an odd creature, there beautiful creatures and there fun to watch but you you need to understand how dangerous this animal is before you can truly respect it

The biggest victim was Moe. He didn't participate in the attack and the amount of trauma this poor chimp experienced is unbelievable. The damage humans cause is relentless. I feel terrible for these people but they had no business domesticating a wild animal. Nobody has that right.

When there's no body either he was taken away and kept it sold, it killed at the place he was kept and the death hidden for some reason. I'd suggest they contact an animal communicatir @ of he still lives here might could be found... How sad to lose an animal you love so much and who lives you. More wouldn't have joined in even to try and defend them simply because he just wasn't aggressive or dominant and was not violent in any way. Missy animals like that actually great violence. It's rare but it happens...

I think I will just stick with keeping a dog as a pet. Even though Moe didn’t attack them a wild animal should not be kept as a pet.

i visited Moe at a small sanctuary in Palos Verdes , California about a year after this event , he had a large enclosure with the double nuts welded on to the bolts because of his hand strength - he was 40 years old at the time and did high speed manouvers and acrobatics and showed incredible strength and a display of dominance to let you know he's in charge - the lady who ran the sanctuary said he only does that when men are around - I WAS VERY GLAD THERE WAS A HEAVY DUTY CAGE BETWEEN US - these chimps are no joke - Later Moe was taken to another sanctuary in the foot hills north of LA and he escaped and was seen by a work crew - im not sure what happened after that , he couldnt survive on his own
