2015 Seiki 42" 4K 60Hz TV (SE42UGT) Thoughts and Impressions

I'm curious to know the chroma capabilities. I have the SE42UMS (previously reviewed) as a PC monitor w/ lag patch running at 4k 60hz and after some adjustments the lag is under 20ms but the color calibration is not very easy nor is it chroma 4:4:4 capable (it's actually 4:4:2) which does show up some choppy graphics when reds are displayed over blacks, i.e. red text on dark websites, photoshop etc. Hopefully this newer model addresses that. Other than that, yes you gotta have the proper vid card and cable to support hdmi 2.0 to get 4k @ 60hz on a PC folks.

I can use 4k on the built-in Seiki app. You have to go into your Netflix settings and check the option that says how you want to run your picture at all times, I'm assuming yours is on "Auto." You gotta change that to "High" and sign out and back in on your account on the TV, and then boom. 4k on a Seiki.

Got mine on Tuesday , Beautiful TV , it does 4k @ 60 with the right cable / card . Also ordered the Seiki U-Vision 4K Up-Conversion HDMI Cable i get it tomorrow !!

Click Menu, Settings, System, Other Settings, and change the HDMI EDID from 1.4 to 2.0 and BOOM 4k 60HZ for PCs and Steam Machines! I had the same input lag problem on mine till I changed It to HDMI 2.0 Manually. Also you need to change the picture mode to PC or Game. I forget which one it is, pretty sure it's PC.

Honestly I think the input lag you are getting is from your internet connection. Signal has to go from the steambox, to your router, and then to your Tv.

Try to run a game directly from your PC (with enough good components) and then see if the lag stays.

I just bought the 55" version of this and theres like half a second input delay when im playing GTA 5 im soo pissed off.. looks like i have to return it for shitty $677 store credit GREAT

Get a Display-port to HDMI cable. That's what I use so I can get 120 FPS on my 32" 1080P display.
You have to make sure it will do 18 gigs of bandwidth....

Of course it's going to have delay lol this is NOT recommended for gaming

I can't get sound on mine

I bought it back in 2013 and never took it back it's been 3 yrs.... MUTE IS OFF AND It's plugged in iv hooked up many TVs and it still for 3 yrs cannot get the sound to work .
I just leave it sit.
it's been turned on like maybe 3x...HOOWWW DO I GET THE SOUND DOES IT EVEN HAVE SPEAKERS IN IT??

trying to cennect my xbox one s to this exact tv can not detect it as 4k at 60hz tv, even though the box says 4k ultra hd 60 hz aswell the built in netflix studders on the 4k movies and tv shows. could you try to connect this to an xbox one s and see if you are having the same troubles. ?

I almost didnt buy this tv because he said that netflix wasnt 4k I dug a little deeper to find out it does support netflix no problem. I tested it out myself and netflix says 2160p. So for anyone out there just make sure u have a 4k netflix account play something thats ultra hd on netflix like house of cards or some shit.

I have a Seiki 65" 4K Smart TV. It shows white noise in the screen. It is under warranty.  Seiki tells me I must PAY for return shipping to California from the east coast, and IF they do not have the model they will send me a refund for my cost of the TV. Thus I LoOSe COST of SHiPPiNG. Shipping with insurance estimated at $220.00 US. I bought is for Christmas 2016 at $550.00 on a sale at hhgreg. The item is now discontinued which means they will send me a refund. Do the math.  I loose $220.00 of the $550.00 I paid.  I now ask myself, "What will I do when the opportunity arises  for me to buy another Seiki TV at a bargain price?" the old adage goes... "You get what you pay for". Well, what if they raise the price?  Then I say... "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Seiki' customer service is very difficult to reach and deal with. I was promised a replacement TV only after a series of photos being sent over and over again of the TV condition. After five months, I was told I would get a REFUND rather than a replacement TV. I also had to pay for the disposal of the old one, and send to them proof of the disposal.BEWARE of Seiki. It began in August 2017 and it is November 30, almost December 2017 and I have not received the refund yet

The Seiki SE42UM after the firmware upgrade works just fine. No lag issues at all.

I was gonna return my Samsung 7100 55" 4k TV, which i bought for $1000, and get Seiki 4k 55" for $500. However, i changed my mind after watching your video. Seiki is cheap for a reason and Samsung is expensive for a reason. Everything is very high end on Samsung and response is VERY fast compare to Seiki. Thank you for a informative review. These little tiny details are where money difference is very obvious. And yes, Samsung can play Netflix at full 4k.
