Savathun death and becoming a Guardian Cutscene Destiny 2

So glad I quit playing this fucking game when they decided to sunset gear. This is an insane twist, and not in a good way.

Nonsensical story plots unfortunately

How is it possible this made me feel genuinely sorry for a creature like Savathun? She condemned her own species to a fate worse than extinction, killed gazillions across the universe, wiped entire galaxies clean, and tried to hoard the light to save herself from her former master.

Yet I didn’t see anything like that here. I just watched a broken woman dying alone, basically begging for help from a higher power. Even despite her maintaining her arrogant attitude, I got the feeling she was genuinely afraid to die but kept a brave face so she could at least do so with grace of her gamble failed. Even in spite of everything she’s done, nobody should have to die alone.

I think this is easily the coolest cutscene in all of Destiny.

How did we went from this to lightfall campaign.

These cutscenes are proof that Destiny 2 had, and possibly still had, the potential to be one of the greatest games of all time. If only EA would stop being so greedy.

Thinking about this vs the absolute BULLSHITTERY of Lightfall it’s like.. light and dark. The difference in production quality is astounding. The Witch Queen is animated studio quality and Lightfall looks like a Disney direct to video animated sequel compared

to me, this is the best cutscene and the best reveal in all of destiny.

How could we go from this to lightfall?

We really gotta give credit to Mara Sov, she bravely took on Oryx (and lost, yes) but recuperated and then took on Savathun and won, it wasn’t her fault that the traveller decided to resurrect the Witch Queen, by all rights Mara Sov defeated Savathun and saved Sol from her onslaught and treachery.

The music really ties in everything

This is the single best story telling we’ve seen in destiny’s now long history… and it’s absolutely awesome. Need more like this in the final shape

This was an incredible twist, and Debra Wilson’s performance brought so much emotion to Savathun as a character….however there is one issue I have, buts it’s more so in regards to the vanguard meeting.

Everyone acts like Savathun being made a guardian is a shocking and unfathomable idea, and to an extent it is, but my first though was how your ghost mentioned Immaru being a bully long before he threw in with the hive, and this is far from the first time a ghost has made a poor choose. The entire point of the dark age was that the first lightbearers were assholes who used their powers to opress everyone?

When I bought witch queen and saw this seen it was sad to me

Of course it would make her a Guardian, the thing she wants the most is to protect the Traveler , we fight to protect humanity, the Traveler just happens to be necessary for that.

Savathûn is quite possibly the best candidate the Traveler has found on our entire planet because of that.

Our best bet, would probably be to try and convince her that her best bet for protecting the Traveler is to work with he existing guardians of the Last City. If we can do that we would gain an immensely powerful ally is the coming war against the witnesses.

How did Savy end up on earth?

So sad lightfall ruined alot of this progress but they do have one mre chance so lets hope they don’t squander it.

I love how if you rewatch this after everything that happened in witch queen it answers all these questions like why would the traveler give her the light well light gives a new start right well it tries to give her a new good start because it saw change in her the possibility to bring the hive to the light with humanity bring life forms a new bonding point and breaking the chains of the witness on one of its prisoners or well that how I see it I could be completely wrong tho

The traveler is not a god, its just another being being hunted seeking refuge, giving the light as a mean to protect itself, I love how Eris puts it, that it really istn a god but a fleeing being, trying putting anything it can to protect itself.
Gurdians are like white bloodcells are to a body and the witness is the cancer that chases.
Lightfall is coming...

I actually didn’t even want to kill her after seeing this scene and the other about her being manipulated. I was hoping to the bitter end that she would see the error of her ways. That’s good writing when it makes you HESITANT to kill the giant moth alien monster
