If you don't change your oil frequently in a generator you will destroy it.

I agree. I buy the Mobile 1 guaranteed for 20,000 but I change it at every 10,000 and I’m mostly drive highway.

40% correct. No scientific proof.

Also, if you wait 20,00 miles, look at the oil you remove if you still have and left. It will be the blackest, dirtiest oil you have ever seen. I had a 2002 silverado with 350k miles that would be a quart low at 7 to 8 k miles. I have a 2011 silverado that shuts down cylinders when needed that will be a quart low at 4k miles so that is when I change it now.I also have a 2008 silverado with 100k miles that had the cylinder deactivation disabled that burns no oil but I still change it at 4 or 5k.

the real way to check if oil is in need of replacement is to pull a sample and have it tested. this also will verify what shape the engine is in( wear, blowby gasses, metals, coolant ect.)

I'm thinking more along the lines of a collector car I drive 1000 miles a year and have done oil changes every few years. This 20k oil might have better basicity (TBN).

Dear Scotty ! What engine oil tester would you recommend, which will verify actual level of oil contamination and degradation inside of that particular engine and farther it’s suitability or unsuitability. Mileage or time are nor the right thing that determines oil quality.

While liqui moly claims some of their engine oil can last for more than 20,000 miles!

Doubt your claim. Most eu cars ask oil change every 2 year/30,000km, including bmw and peugeot etc. You can find these information from user manuals.

Please do one of these for a phev like a RAV 4 prime. We drive under 40 miles on EV only most of the time, our engine is only used when we go on “trips” of an hour or more.

Great video Scotty now we know the truth after the cat is let ut the bag!
Made me think about my fab Toyota C-HR Hybrid and the 10,000 mile reccomended oil change which is used for perhaps 70% in town and around country lanes and 30% motorway use.
Have no idea how often electric motor kicks in but guess a lot at under 25mph. Thinking true engine milage is around 8,000 as it is achieving 55 - 60 mpg (UK gallons - 4.546 litres )

We use this oil in our 2019 Chevy Traverse, 81k miles on it. We use Purolator Boss 20k filters too. My wife puts on about 30k miles a year. Almost all of her mileage is highway with 4 stops from door to door. Everything she wants at stores and such are between. We get about 14k mileage on it. 20k is no way a real world scenario.

What about the notion that you change it at either the mileage or if you don't reach the mileage cheange it ever so many months. IE I will not reach 7,000 miles in a year does that mean I can go a year with no oil change? Do I just follow the mileage?

They did a lot of testing to be able to make that claim. Maybe it's good to change it sooner, but better 20k than never.
