Oh dang it... bodies of water act as a barrier, too... accidentally edited that out. Also, car's WON'T block the SPC either, so putting a car at the entrance of your base as a gate does nothing. I kinda breezed over it, but airlocks aren't necessary for smaller bases. Opening the one gate in a small base won't spawn (teleport) zeds in. Just close up the one you have before you go on loot runs, and you'll be perfectly fine.

that is precisely my goal for build 42... a giant wall around lousville... not just a tile of wall right at the outskirts no... a full fledged functioning defensive wall with battlements and trenches right in front of it.

If you wall with composters from the southern army checkpoint, north to the river, you 'only' need around 7.5k logs (that you gather as you go towards the river) and around 12k nails. Much more realistic. For over half the wall, you're in Empty areas and wont have any Zombies to deal with too.

ОтветитьI wonder if this mechanic, where the AI director does the SPC, is what happens when a dedicated server crashes, or is closed out "ungracefully", that is without a /save and /close. As a long-timer PZ server admin, when using a dedicated 3rd party host, you get situations with ungraceful closeouts, like when your host reboots your virtual server, or when the mods on the client and server get out of sync, preventing the admin from logging in to do the /save and /close. When these happen, we almost always have zeds spawning inside previously cleared buildings. This is with spawn and redistribution turned off. But when we make extensive efforts to seal them up, as you do in this video, it seems to help, but not 100% prevent it. Have you heard of this, and if so, could you make a video on it?
ОтветитьI noticed something interesting on zombies within your own cell. If you place something, like a chair, against a pre-existing tall fence (like the metal see-through ones in the gated community in Riverside, zombies trying to pathfind to you will get stuck on these fences. They think they can attack a player-placed object (the chair), but they are blocked by a pre-existing fence, so they just keep walking against the fence until you reset their pathing to go 180 degrees away from the tile they are in.

ОтветитьI know this is old and my idea is even more crazy... but...
if the spawn checker checks pathfinding from the very edge of the map, could you, in theory at least, baricade off the ENTIRE knox country? at least every tile with actual stuff in it like houses and camps... and fallow up question, how many resources would it take? and I think every resource needed is renewable thru foraging and growing new trees if needed...
I wonder what would be finished faster, a project like this, or project zomboid itself going out of early access.

ОтветитьZombie closets still exist. The director will still spawn zombies into areas that haven't been rendered, like the inside of closets. The end result is getting jumped by a horde of zeds clown car-ing out to eat you.
ОтветитьWith the upcoming changes to engineering and crafting, I wonder if you could use this to funnel hordes into kill zones. Also remote doors would be cool.

ОтветитьI liked the video because of the good infos, but it feels like we're going to a minecraft kind of gameplay where u make sploits to survive easier and the problem is that I think the achieving falacy is what makes zomboid unique, is what makes u feel like u are in an actual zombie apocalipse, alone, without hope, not knowing why u keep going, but u do. Until the inevitable death arive. Because, after all, thats the story of how u died.

Vanilla PZ really suck with the realism part.

ОтветитьI stumbled into this strategy by accident. The fancy houses in Riverside are mostly surrounded by the tall metal fences, so I just sealed one of the mostly complete 'cells' and set up shop. Granted it's not a huge area, but it's great peace of mind.
ОтветитьThis reminds me of Haven and Hearth's 'Palisade'. AKA, it's an almost unbreakable wall, without a character with high stats breaking it in siege-engines in a hardcore, perma-death survival MMO game. And to have the 'best security', like if a player were to PVP you outside your Palisade walls or stole your key to the gates, you would build similar 'air-locks' and also use one-way keys to teleport into your base to your spawn point 'Hearth Fire', to get inside. Otherwise, if you don't have it, you'd possibly get mugged, griefed or killed (Depending if they have the 'Skill' to do, stealing is going to be a problem regardless)

ОтветитьHello guys! I did this in a small scale in Rosewood Firestation and it works even expanding till half of Rosewood. Now trying Kingsmouth, is it possible to secure half the map by blocking off the bridges or would they zomboids spawn regardless?
