Considering how fast metal moved, the 90’s was just absolute chaos compared to the 80’s. Death pioneered the vision for a more abrasive sound, and pretty quickly you have serial killer focused albums, extreme dismemberment, cannibalism, necrophilia, and many other real subjects. Too real for anyone who doesn’t understand that music is just music. How anyone can blame sound for causing violence is beyond me.

Repulsive lyrics and subjects are more interesting because it shows reality in its most raw form.
