Best Graphics Cards for Video Editing Programs

Hey! Honest and great video! I have a question about this GPU - I have the opportunity to get ASUS ROG Strix 1070 8GB (non Ti) for about 150$ or a much newer (2,5 years warranty) Gigabyte Eagle RTX 3060 12 GB for about 245$.
My main concerns are:
- Power usage (I have no idea how much these cards use, I had an ASUS Strix GTX 960 2GB OC and now I have a Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti 4GB
- Will the 1070 be more useful for video editing like Davinci Resolve then the RTX 3060 because of bandwith speed or am I better off with 12 GB or VRAM instead of 8GB?
- I don't really play new games, but the old ones like BF 4, DayZ, stuff like that... So I tend to invest the price difference to change my old i5 4690 + DDR3 to i3 12100F + DDR 4. Do you think that I should go with the 1070 now and change CPU or wait it out and change to the 12th gen later and get the newer GPU?

My 1070 8gb didn't speed up things much, so it was pretty much a bust for Sony Movie Studio (Vegas). I mean, it speeds it up a little bit, but it wasn't breathtaking...

This was excellent and help me a lot.

Bear in mind that GPU effects scores may be inconclusive due to the fact that benchmarks in Puget are mostly rendered with h264 GPU encoder where NVidia NVENC is substantially faster than AMD VCE. So pure GPU grunt could well be better with Native encoding using CPU, provided CPUs are similar.

Can this subject be applied for making movies like the "Harry Potter Franchise", "Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise", Or even "Indiana Jones Franchise"?...if so, what graphics card will I need if I used it with Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

Can you help me with just a suggestion......Will a R7 5700g with 32MB 3200mhz RAM be able to give smooth timeline performance ? On a mere i3 6100 Vegas pro timeline scrubbing with 4K GH5 footage is slight sticky and with effects added we need to go to DRAFT > QUARTER to see the video without dropping frames, during renders it uses the processor 100%, but when timeline scrubbing etc its not using the processor more than 20-50% at max and the IGPU is at 7-10% while its stuttering, then why stutter, OS and all the media is on NVME and SSD that too. What gives ? I only want better timeline performance....so will a 5700g work at least twice better than this i3 ?

Your comment will help as i need to upgrade immediately. Later i will add a graphics card like 1660ti or 1080ti ?


The key clue is that for my 4K video work....an i3 6100 is able to do it but with struggle. So i just want 2-3 times better than this......not 10 times better with extremely expensive hardware that shows a mere 5x better performance.

Ok so I'm confused, I use Vegas Pro 19 by the way and I'm considering buying a new PC soon so was wondering about the graphics card or not. I basically edit pretty simple video's to a degree though I do use a lot of effects and transitions in the video's too, which I do notice on my current PC when rendering it will go a little slower as the transition or effect comes in but it speeds up once it's got past the initial effect also, I do also like to render in 4K so what would be a good reasonable priced graphics card to make this a little better? I don't want to be spending stupid money as it's not the be all and end all in regards to render speed but it would be nice to have a little something when I can, so any advice would be much appreciated!! ❤️🙏

My card is Radeon RX 570.

I like your video. We all know the higher end graphic cared will do better. For me I am trying to replace my GTX 950 2vram video card for something newer. My rig is a 8 core AMD 3700X with 32 DDR Ram. I am looking at cards like a RTX 3050 or RX 6600 for my replacement. I wish you would have shown stats for these cards. I know you can not show every card and the best should have been there. Realistic I do not have 3 or 4 thousand dollars for a video card. Hard these days to come up with 3 to 5 hundred dollars. Thanks for the video. I got a lot of use out of the GTX 9050 card do to my new build using it form an AMD 8120 CPU 12 year old rig. Hoping to get something that I can get that much use out of.

Wanna add that another reason the 6900 xt is underperforming alot is due to alot of software that is optimized for nvidia tech and not AMD. This might actually change in the future with amd advancing more

Thanks a lot for this, Im trying to understand what external devices can I use for my desktop which has 16 gigs of RAM but has a low gpu for Premier pro/after effects. Some 3D features don’t work in photoshop either, I’m assuming bc of the same problem. I’m looking for an external device bc I don’t know anyone who can fix the hard drive on my desktop and it would be more economical for me

This video is very thorough but 5 minutes in and I still didnt have a clear answer for what gpu is best for certain task. For instance you gave the best choice for Adobe but didnt say if that best choice was simply because of performance. The best performance may be way to expensive for a normal person.

My P4000 Quadro can handle pretty much everything I throw at it :) I do have 64GB of DDR4 3600 Ram and an 8 core processor and that does help too, but an older Quadro can still get the job done flawlessly if you only edit and you are not into gaming. I can still play games, but my only game is League of Legends, so I could play that with my case :))

I wanna go crazy on a build now while I have the chance. To invest in myself and future, knowing that I wanna do landscape rendering 4-8k rendering, photo editing, photoshop composites, and whatever someone throws at me I’ll be able to handle
