This would be much better on a Strength build because you automatically 2-hand when using weapon arts, so you get +50% more damage from strength on the melee hits.

I went with Strength over Dex since I'm always two-handing the Flamberge

A nice variation of this is to use the Weathered Straight Sword. Not so good damage at point blank, but a much better stamina consumption.

This is awesome. I’m going to re-spec my RL61 Vagabond to suit this build. After 35 hours of straight-up sword + shield I’m wanting some variety. Gonna run a Heavy Claymore Stormblade with some lightning thrown in.

I love this! Just beat Malenia on Ng+3 in two tries. What a cool build! I’m using banished knight set with scaled greaves and unaltered helm cuz I have a lot of endurance at this point. I love this build and love its uniqueness. I like the armor you chose but I’d love to see you focus more on theme and fashion. Thanks Fextra

So I picked this up yesterday with the royal knights great sword to start my game and ive been using greeses to buff the blade I'm only at ranala but its been a joke so far

I wanted to use this build with the eccentric armor for the style but I fell in love with the poise trying to get it that I couldn’t let go of the knight’s armor

These videos are cool and all but i’ll never really get why you show gameplay of nuking early game bosses in ng+. Pretty much any build will 2-3 shot a limgrave night calvalry

That’s one hell of an ability. I went crazy for horfrost stomp my first playthrough but it was nerfed.

The problem I see with this build is that now your just gunna press L2 for the entirety of the game especially if your using a greatsword because it’s logicallly more damage.

Tried this out with Great Epee and it also works well on that weapon, give it another way to attack rather than just the usual pokes or wide heavy attack, and getting in hits with both the ash and the weapon is made a bit easier with how much reach the weapon has during the animation.

The use of bloodflame blade got me curious about pairing it with black flame blade instead. Any thoughts on how effective that could be?

Do spells like Black Flame Blade still affect projectiles like Storm Blade in patch 1.09?

I came back to the game a year after release and found this build.

This build REALLY freaking good.

If you just want to beat the game with a straightforward build, this is the best one I’ve found. The fact that you got a ranged and melee option is useful throughout the game and Stromblade just melts enemy health.

The only boss that it doesn’t really destroy is Maliena, and even then the Bloodfire buff helps in that fight.

Patch 1.09 nerfed this build. BLOOD FLAME BLADE no longer affects Storm blade projectiles, but it still is a solid build.

Do you have any builds for RL 300+?

You said you could get someone to drop Shard of Alexander for you. Is it possible to drop talismans? I thought it wasn't.

Anyone else having a bug where the projectile part of stormblade hits but does no damage? And I'm not being hyperbolic, literally 0 damage, except at a random point when fighting anything, it with no noticeable reason swaps from doing no damage at all, to doing the damage it's supposed to do

I've been using Stormblade/Bloodflame Blade on my NG++ with a broadsword, and I love it so far.

one reason i prefer to play ER on PC is cause you can use CE to add your fav weapons at the beginning of the game. Altho on console there is no possibility of that so that further increases the difficulty which is nice.

I have added this weapon and ash in a paladin build, but instead of keen I use the Flame Art infusion until I get the whetstone that does lightning and sacred infusions so it benefits from faith instead of dexterity, and if I increase strength that it still gets some benefit alongside other stuff as well.

I'm by no means a min maxer but the build that I have currently is a strength based faith build that uses a Dragon Halberd with a beast claw seal (idr the exact name) really packs a punch both ranged and close up since the Halberds weapon art demolishes most enemies with just the first hit and sinking the harder mobs with the second wind up slam. It's pretty fun!

Stormbade proyectile doesnt trigger weapon buff effects AKA Bloodfame or Blackflame Blade incantations (Notice there is no linguering red or black effects on impact)

How did you uh, get your damage to read as 1200?
Because while I know there's things like buffs and all the most damage I'm hitting is a solid 750-800 at times with no buffs

Great video. You really hit on the number one feature of storm blade: it effectively turns heavy weapons into light ones by changing their move set while keeping the AR. 1.07 turned storm blade into a monster and made playing with clunky weapons way more fun.

Is there a particular reason why you choose Dex over Str? It seemed like Strength would be a better choice given you might two-hand often with this build.

Stormblade is not that powerful...it does not 1 hit kill any enemies... Im level 480 and use this on my Maxed out weapon and it does NOT instaKill any enemies.... i need to cast it like 4-5 times to kill anything if lucky....

It's possible to run this build at RL150, while also benefiting from dual wield greatswords / jump attacks when needed:

Weapons: +25 Keen Flamberge (Storm Blade AoW) | +10 Sword of Milos (in replacement of Sacrificial Axe, also the FP recovery is 5 points instead of 4)
Talismans: Shard of Alexander | Lord of Blood's Exultation | Carian Filigreed Crest | Great Jar's Arsenal
Armor: Raging Wolf Helm | Fingerprint Armor | Blaidd's Greaves | Vagabond Knight Gauntlets (total of 53 poise + drip bonus)

Status (Vagabond starting class): Vig 60 | Min 20 | End 20 | Str 15 | Dex 80 | Fth 15 | Arc 10
Note: the buffs are bloodflame blade and fire grant me strength only
