The difference ( Big One) between the Thompson and the MP-40, is that you could have a very busy ( combat) day with the MP-40 without a major problem,while with the Thompson after 1 hour of combat your shoulder,arm,wrist, hand and fingers would be purple,and the Pain unberable.
PS: but anything is better than the sten.

Saw a history channel program about production of MP40. Apparently, 47% of those produced were rejected by QA nitpicking over trivial faults. Cost the Wehrmacht and the paratroopers heeps during the war. Similar stupidity with the manufacture of the German rifles and MG34 and MG42.

we could debate about stg as first assault rifle, as first mass produced... no doubt, but russian avotma fedorova used in war with finnland was also automatic weapon with power somewhere between smg and rifle, and italy had also something similar before

It’s a great gun in Black ops 1 zombies… always at arms reach in that theatre map, cheap, fire rare a bit slow but steady.

It’s just an iconic WW2 weapon whether you hate it or not.

Having shot a MP40 several times it’s by far one of the most controllable full autos. Very easy to shoot very tight groups it’s very easy to control
