Damn, this one hit home. I remember playing Breath Of The Wild for the first time and made it a point to not look up anything regarding the puzzles, bosses, or how to get anywhere and it made it easily one of the top 5 gaming experiences I've ever had.
Sort of related to the advice that you shared, but I was looking into how long Bioshock 1 was and remember reading a comment on Reddit that said something to the effect of "take your time and enjoy ever minute of it, because you only get to experience it for the first time once" and that shit stuck with me.
Great video!
I played far cry 3 for the first time recently so I been playing old games I never played before and trying something different like now I’m playing borderlands the pre sequel just because I never played a borderlands
ОтветитьExactly as you described it and it's funny because to me God of War still as an adult brings out this childhood joy feeling, that we embark in a "true" adventure.
Ответитьyou are 100% spot on , you gave me a nostalgic feel when i was a kid and picked up Monkey island original game , and how i went through it. that was the true fun of playing a game , now days thats exactly why i stopped enjoying video games lately .
ОтветитьI have been trying this myself with microtopia. Ignoring all the streamers and just figuring it out myself. Taking breaks when I'm frustrated and it works. What you said makes sence and I'm trying my best to enjoy video games again, exactly how you describe it here.
ОтветитьThis is why I love and hate the trophy system now on games because you get the satisfaction of earning them but it also takes away the fun of just playing for fun. I remember playing Spyro, crash bandicoot and Jak and Daxter over and over and over because they were good quality games you enjoyed, now it’s platinum a game and move on.
I’m playing Dead Space remake at the minute and I was planning on getting all trophies then I decided I have too many games to play so I won’t bother and just enjoy it again and I am loving it because I don’t feel I need to push myself to get trophies
I am in the minority but I hated new God of War and will never play Ragnarok. The fundamental issue I have is that He. Is. The. God. Of. War. he's killed every god he's come across ... and, somehow, he's getting his ass handed to him by some scrawny dude named Baldur? Give me a break.
ОтветитьThanks for this video, needed that exactly at this moment of my life. Good advices for ol' gamers, by ol' I mean ppl after 30 lvl in real life hah :D
ОтветитьThis is so true. I'm still playing AC: Odyssey lol. Got ~160 hours, and I'm only like 70% done with the story. It's so fun though, half the time I'm just exploring the beautiful world
ОтветитьUnless my real life friends (who are exclusively weekend warriors) are online, I have only played singleplayer games for around two years now. Best decision I’ve made gaming wise, highly recommend FromSoftware games & things like RDR2 (campaign) for those looking for experiences & devs who respect your intelligence & your time.
ОтветитьSuch a good take on a way to enjoy games! And great advice for the way to get into new games. I try to do it as often as possible as well. Unfortunately, learned the hard way.
TLDR for next part: way enjoying the game until started relying on walkthrough. Spoiled everything and robbed myself of experiencing amazing game.
I remember picking up Goetia (to this point one of my favorite games) a year or two ago and just making a pact with myself that I am not going to look into walkthrough unless I understand there is no way I can proceed. It is a fairly difficult puzzle game with no hints. I made it 2/3 without looking into tutorials and proceeding in game was so enjoying. And then I got stuck on a couple of puzzles for three days. The story was way too engaging to drop it so I gave up and looked into walkthrough for a specific puzzle. The problem is that the game is somewhat non-linear and I accidentally spoiled for myself a couple more puzzles. And then it went downhill. I felt like watching into tutorial even once made me unable to proceed without checking the walkthrough for all the other points. Enjoyment from finishing puzzles vanished because I did not now finish them on my own, I was getting hints from other source (avoided looking at solutions). I stopped experimenting because I got anxious that I am doing something wrong. In a video game! And then I accidentally spoiled the ending this way... I do not mind spoilers because I always care not about what happened but how did it happen and yet... There were still too many abstract notes that I wanted to unravel myself. I have read every single letter and comment anyways, made the whole bunch of conspiracy theories and wrote the small article for myself but if not for walkthrough I opened just to check a couple puzzles, I wouldn't have even known that there are two endings. It's good that I was able to find both but I also feel robbed of the experience figuring it out myself.
Now that I almost forgot the puzzles (though not the plot) might be a good time to replay it without any help. For real this time.
I love that reference to how we used to buy games in the past. It got me into Guild Wars 1, Dead Island 1 and Dark Souls (2 & 3), all just purely based on how the games looked.
I think it's also like that in real life; when I start worrying if I'm living my life as efficiently as I can, I tend to feel less happy. I just recently bought my first house with my girlfriend and now I wonder if I've made the best choice possible, when really the more I think about it, the less I should stress about it and just adapt to the new place etc :)
Not me having this experience with lego games and somehow always getting stuck at some buggy level and giving up on the game
ОтветитьThis is so true. Play the game like devs want you to play it. Unfortunatley the devs produce them just to make big money sometimes.
ОтветитьThe thing that kills all my enthausiasm for a game is looking something up online. Even good advice is often accompanied by so much negativity, as well as complaining about petty details that I never would have known about but once learning them cant let them go.
ОтветитьI can still hear the Skyrim music
ОтветитьI chuckled at the old clip of that MLG player walking into a Gamestop expecting people to care and no one knew who he was. Amazing cringe video from the old days.
ОтветитьI mean, my peakest gaming memories are always during my unemployment days, and I don't even feel guilty about it, when I'm working, I just end up too tired during my break to even game or do anything
ОтветитьThis mfker described my daily life in the first 60 seconds of the video
Ответитьman i fucking loved this video , thanks alot.
ОтветитьWhat a randomly profound and delightful reminder
ОтветитьAmazing video. I left a sub and a like. I used to play alot of world of warcraft the last weeks and to be honest what you said translates good to MMO where you grind a lot just to get stuff, while watching videos etc. Barley enjoying the game like i used to 15years ago. I think i need a break from this game! :D thanks
ОтветитьI went into Baldur's Gate 3 with this mindset. Completely missed two of the companions, probably played hugely sub-optimally, and still had a whale of a time. Looking shit up is reserved for my second playthrough, and frankly it's not as fun. I had an experience with that game that none of my friends have, and that makes it so much more special to me.
ОтветитьI’ve been searching for an online gaming community after a lifetime of solo gaming, and every time I tried one I realized—these people are just buying into the grind of capitalism where what matters is advancing and accomplishing things rather than experiencing joy. I’m back to solo and feeling great
ОтветитьI used to game daily whether it be multiplayer with friends or streaming my single player games on discord for people watch and backseat.
My issue the past year and a half is the lack of time I have to game. I find myself coming home at 6pm, going gym, and eating. By the time that’s all done it’s 9pm and I’m mentally/physically drained. This coupled with the idea of work tomorrow makes me feel like I can’t full enjoy the game in broken sessions.
I’ve booked off 4 days from work in the hope of finishing Elden Ring. I adore this game and have completed all previous Souls game iterations too. Idk why I’ve procrastinated a hobby/love of mine in the fear of not fully enjoying it with my time constraints :(
the things you said, i knew already... but they make so much more sense when you're told by someone what you're actually thinking.
I tend to play single player games like fallout, witcher, the outer worlds... and looking up builds online is one of the first things i do... but i'll try starting Avowed with no particular build in mind or looking anything up, and see how it goes.
One can never thank you enough for this video. I hope it'll reach many other people in struggle with enjoying video games. God bless you!
stop saying shit like theres nothing wrong with this lifestyle, THERES EVERYTHING WRONG WITH THIS LIFESTYLE. The work that you sacrifice 80% of your life for isnt accomplishing shit and you know it, and anyone with a brain knows that a whole one and a half fucking hours of downtime to play some games isn't nearly enough to balance out the amount of resentment your putting yourself through just to make it through your shift, thats why you buy fast food and scroll in bed, your body is trying to compensate for the lack of positive emotion. Fuck your job. find your dream and dont let go
ОтветитьWhen you’re going for the platinum it’s difficult to do this
ОтветитьThis one really resonated with me - great advice!
ОтветитьGreat video man! I like what you said about making them rewarding, as we get older there becomes less time for the hobbies we used to enjoy, however making the most out of it definitely makes it that much more enjoyable and gives that nostalgia of being a kid getting that new game from GameStop!😂❤
ОтветитьWhat i realised aswell with modern soceity having less attention span through social media and what not, its also alot harder to get into games for people. They skip story stuff by default and hope to be massively hooked by smth right of the bat. I recommend everyone to give games time and invest into them if you dont invest your emotions sweat and passion in to them you wont care about them no matter what.
I learned this with many games recently that i kept on pushing back like Judgement for example, but once i really dig in to it man it was one of the best expierences i have had in gaming!
Good video thanks
ОтветитьThank you. Not far from what I do
ОтветитьI feel you on not looking up how to do certain puzzles or how to solve a quest. I try really hard not to but damn some of these modern games have puzzles or quests that are way too confusing sometimes. I swear I never had an issue when I was a kid, so maybe I’m just getting dumber with age lol. I just have to look up certain missions because I’ll be stuck for hours on something simple. I’m playing cyberpunk now (finally) and I’ve had to look up a few side mission issues.
ОтветитьI enjoy my work, and the games my play are not an antidote, they're something I also enjoy doing in a different way. I don't need to be efficient, however I do like blocked time uninterrupted so I can focus and enjoy the experience and be in the zone. I also never or rarely look anything up unless I'm stuck for days and days. I think this happened once or twice in Elden Ring, because I couldn't get into Raya Lucaria .
ОтветитьI've been starting to play games as when I was a kid. I go to PSN, check out some games I have no idea what they are, read a couple of reviews and then I jump in. Sword and Fairy 7 was the latest one and I've been enjoying it a lot.
ОтветитьFunny thing your video sparked, I wish there were better guides. Not "Make this build" rather here's some tips on what gear synergies there are, or for your play style look for gear with this name/attribute. Not making me more efficient at playing the game, but improving my Meta with the game; less floundering is the better for me will I enjoy this item and more ooh that one increase X and lowers Y
ОтветитьWhat a great video. High quality
ОтветитьAs someone that works a 9-5 at a poop fart factory, this is very accurate.
ОтветитьLast game I did this was Nine Sols. It has been a while I don't look at the stuff in the internet about a game am currently playing to be more efficient.
ОтветитьThis video popped up in the algorithm, I definitely enjoyed this. I resonate with the puzzles and figuring things out on your own. I have fond memories being young and my mom would help me with the puzzles. Thanks.
ОтветитьGames are just worse now… look up games released in 2011… look how many classics released that year alone… when was the last time we got more than 1 amazing game in a year?
ОтветитьYou, sir, have been officially ‘goated’ for releasing such an incredible video. 🫡
ОтветитьThanks, I don't look up dialogue options or builds, but puzzles are not really my thing and if I'm stuck for 3-5 minutes or more, I say fuck it. As you said, we all look for different things.
ОтветитьQOTD: What game have you picked up recently?
Ответить
