excellent work man this is super informative. No need to apologize for anything, I appreciate your detail.
Ответить"dry means this. Wet means that. You already knew that"
You have underestimated the degree of my ignorance. 😆
Thanks so much! Great video. I'll certainly be watching more of your video gifts to humanity.
Thank you for the tips you are very clear and understandable. I have been mixing for five years and embariest to say I did not know this stuff. It is more than likely because I am a song writer singer not an engineer.. I am trying to learn it now. Your Video was extreamly help-full. Thank you Rob
ОтветитьIf I'm compressing rap music, how does that affect my attack setting? since the words are coming faster should I set a higher attack to keep with the rhythm of the music?
ОтветитьDamn Edward Cullen is great at mixing
ОтветитьAfter getting a daw program and trying to figure it out I realized that daws are solely responsible for the laming of music. The format is linear, symmetrical, and for these reasons predictable making the final result BORING. There is no possible way to create a song like "sleepwalk" by santo and Johnny for instance with any of these daws because no matter how accurately you synthesize an instrument you cannot synthesize the artists touch...or replicate musical chemistry between artists for that matter. You can add musicians and instruments to the list of things a computer will never replace. An analog 4 track recorder is all you need and it won't ask for a prenup to use it. I've used a simple boom box with built in mic to do every bit of recording I needed except the final. You can compile riffs and vocals in huge amounts to pick through or use 2 cassette recorders to stack instruments together making yourself a one man band for examples of song structure. Furthermore the legal fine print in these daws are scary if you take time to read it. Simply pushing record, play, stop, rewind is way easier than learning these inferior programs. Until Rosetta stone starts offering software that will make me fluent in college graduate studio technician these programs are of no use to me. Of course they could make software in a cassette recorder format that everybody could instantly understand and use but they wont. Daws are great if you want to add to the tragic laming of music going on today. I'm more interested in moving forward.
Ответитьexcellent video!
ОтветитьThank you for making this so understandable. I'm an amateur keyboard player iny 60s. I have a background in electronics and I'm trying to bring myself "up to date" in modern sound production, , DAWs, synthesisers, filters, effects etc. A lot for an old amateur like me to learn but I'm finding int fascinating and your explanations really help.
ОтветитьBrilliant tutorial. Thx.
ОтветитьThank you for such an intelligent explanation and demonstration of compression. I am new to recording and I think I understand it so much better now and am excited to try it!
Ответитьyou are a source of knowledge brother, bless u!
ОтветитьWhat a lovely teaching manner you have - and your knowledge is superb. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьIve heard a lot about compression, hope this tutorial will be helpful
ОтветитьI don't understand: when i leave the transients pass (what i want to compress because they are to loud) why i do need a compressor? o.O
ОтветитьYou hear just like me!!! But, I like a tiny bit more lead sing in music, without the forced treble.
ОтветитьMy question is: How do you get your hair to do that? 😂
ОтветитьThank You Bro🙌🙌Very Helpful Video🔥🔥.
ОтветитьExpert knowledge put across in a really clear and informative way: a truly excellent video! Thanks Michael.
Ответитьamazing! what compressor its good for a home studio?
ОтветитьSo, does the make up gain apply to the uncompressed part of the signal or to all of the signal??
ОтветитьWould you use compression to help with a Pastor who can get loud at times and peak your channel. But if you keep him low with out compression he's not loud enough?
Ответитьreally really good explanation, new suscriber here!
Ответитьfantastic lesson....
ОтветитьDamn, that's very well explained. Thanks!
ОтветитьThe panning on that guitar is crazy
ОтветитьI really like the way you explain things bro. Keep it up
ОтветитьI've been making beats for over 3 years now and finally getting into proper mixing and mastering. Feels like im at a point where i've experimented enough to take my existing ideas to the next level. Your videos and guides help alot. Thanks.
ОтветитьThat's probably the third of fourth video of yours that I have watched and understood it straight away after watching numerous other videos and not getting it at all your really good at these videos, you should do hard techno/trance
ОтветитьMichael could you please teach me audio mixing step by step. I would like to tell you that your explanation is just amazing....
ОтветитьIs your compression free?
ОтветитьGreat work!! Blessings!!!
ОтветитьI've been your student for sometime, learning from your videos I'll be releasing soon a single I hope🤭🇿🇦
Ответитьbest videos
ОтветитьVocalRider is a great way to save hours doing gain automation based on parameterized input
Ответитьwhere is the drum compression video?
ОтветитьThanks Michael you are awesome!
ОтветитьWhere can i find this song please !! =)
ОтветитьThank you. You explained it thoroughly compared to other videos out there !!! 💯
ОтветитьAwesome lesson, thanks for sharing! My ear got a bit smarter from digging into this.
Ответитьcompressor and eq
the 2 most important tools in your arsenal.
Love your videos
ОтветитьI have watsted a lot of time solo tuning compressor as well. Also I always want my guitar reverb to last long but all I knew was to increase reverb length or add another fuzz unit, which usually harm the tone. Thanks for the video! Truly helpful for me!
ОтветитьJust because you and I, for that matter, hear the difference, that doesn't mean the difference has any meaning other than what you imagine. And what you imagine is very subjective. Objectivity does apply, just not in this instance. Imma prove my point with one simple statement- every recording doesn't need to be compressed. If you think so, then you are way too caught up on technology.
Ответитьso much thank it is so helpful <3
ОтветитьThe best channel I've ever seen
Ответитьthanks!
ОтветитьHi Miguel. Hello comment box. I liked your explanation Michel, now I understand what and how each compressor function works. The compressor you are using makes it easier to understand when you see the gain cut and the transition line responding to the main signal! Will save your video, thank you! But I have to be honest, I don't hear a lot of it, it sounds subtle to me on my headphones! But anyway. thanks!
