Rome actually nuked someone in my last game, not sure who they nuked, but my mind immediately went to this.

Those drums are the sounds of the Earth rumbling under the feet of Rome’s Giant Death Robot followed by their legions of Mechanized Infantry.

If the Roman Empire lasted, me and you wouldn't exist, through the butterfly effect. But ingenuity and creation would prosper. Some injustice may remain in the Roman world, but would've been worth it.

There's a side story in the comic "The Sandman", where Emperor Augustus describes how through talking with seers, oracles and phophets, he saw two paths for Rome. One where the Empire fades over centuries and finally falls, undone by barbarians and strange religions-implied to be the path he consciously chooses. And another where Rome shakes off its current period of strife like it did so many others, leading to an eternal Roman future where the eagle standard flies over countries that haven't even been discovered in his time.

This is what happened when he chose the second path.

And now the Roman space fleet, led by Emperor Michael the Great, is flying into the anime galaxy to conquer it, destroy all anime people and free the universe from evil

Now they can visit their gods with space ships!

I mean it's great and all but still want a more modern Italy civ closer to what we see today. Maybe even have Sicily as a seperate civ since there they are decently unique from the rest of Italy, aalthough a lot of Italy is decently unique from the rest of Italy

I never realized how beautiful Atomic era version of this song sounds, because I usually win with Rome around maybe modern era, either via domination or science. Music in this movie is superb, there's not a single theme that sucks.
