Yo! I have smaller but similar setup to what you've used here and in other videos. Your ideas are really interesting, but there's some stuff I'm always confused about. You've got the sounds and the sequences already set up with each machine right? Like the hi-hats on the Digitakt, those were already sequenced and programmed, so when you're in the pattern with that kick drum, you've got that hi-hat pattern available? Then same on the DN. But where the improv element comes in is basically pacing, mixing and matching say, pattern 4 on the DT and pattern 10 on the DN, which contain 8 and 4 sounds and sequences respectively, and then choosing a sample and patch on the Swarm?
What I get confused with is you talk about having a palette of sounds to choose from, but you're not pulling a kick drum from this pattern, snare from this pattern, etc, you're basically picking a pattern, maybe you like the kick, but then you're also going to have to use the snare that's in that pattern? Or are you swapping out that snare sound from the pool on the fly if you think of one that you would prefer?
This is maybe kind of a hyper-specific question, but I realized watching this video again that you have the sequences ready to go with the associated sounds, so when you pull up to the gig, you've already got sequenced sounds, but you've made it so that all the sequences can kind of go together, which means I'm actually pretty close to being able to do something like this too!
Elektron Rytm MK2 is best all in one techno box or Virus TI2 and sometimes both or small modular case with drums and sequencer and effects processor and mixers.
ОтветитьNice Setup. I like your clear way of thinking.
ОтветитьSo what's the minimal set up for creating hard techno drums/kicks and acid sounds? I want to play around live, not really for production but for myself
ОтветитьCool, inspiring. What I didn't get is how to achieve diversity
ОтветитьI wonder, when u dial in the kick, its not just a kick. There is a lot of movement there. What did you do?
ОтветитьGreat video. Except 3 months later you performed a live gig and used a heck of a lot of other gear than what’s in this video. Lol it was quite impressive how much other gear you were using. Great stuff tho!
ОтветитьYour sound is really dope. 👌
ОтветитьExelent content, the sounds of the Drummaschine are from the hardware or they are samples ? Realy like the tone of them, if you could share the sample pack I will be greatfull
Ответить👍I LOVE ! 💙⚪❤
ОтветитьThank you so much for this kind of videos 🙌🏽🙌🏽
ОтветитьThis screams menu diving to me.
ОтветитьIs it really hard to start from scratch?
ОтветитьNow, if you’re wanting to live techno, it’s important to make sure you select the right gear for you. Gear that feel like for your particular needs. I’m going to go through the process of how you go about it depending on your own unique personal requirements. First thing you’re going to have to do is go and purchase all of Electron’s flagship sequencers. Every one of them. That’s the right gear for you.
You’re welcome.
Thanks for stopping by…
Thanks, loved this. Wonder how you are recording stuff. Are you just recording a single stereo
signal or how your routing looks like then? Take care!
Fantastic video. I recently started exploring the electronic music rabbit hole and I'm in the process of getting either a machine or a push 2. Which one would you choose? Thanks! 😊
Ответить*Digitone is 8 voices, not 4. 4 tracks and 8 total voices.
ОтветитьWhat is the first thing I should buy? I dont have a lot of money so I have to buy the gear separately :).
ОтветитьBest liveset absolutely great greatings from Cologne thx for this
ОтветитьI’ve just started dabbling into hardware recently after 2 years of just producing with instruments & daw. great info! Very helpful thank you for putting this out there! 🙏
ОтветитьJust out of curiosity, what's the rough total cost of this setup?
Ответитьthank u for the content !
ОтветитьWell done! I’m getting all set up to go live. Super inspired. Just ordered the swarm. Wow what a great sound on that thing. Good sounds nice groove man!
ОтветитьThanx a lot, SURCO for sharing this concept! I find it very flexible and interesting. I'm thinking about building a new DAWless setup for live performances and your video is very inspirational for me.
ОтветитьWow, great vid, the set up works sooo well, that dc7 hey, nice touch, very creative. Awesome sound too. Thanks for sharing, very insightful.
ОтветитьI've always wondered, how does frequency masking work playing a live set with hardware ? I never see the guy actually equing anything, and still everything seems to fall into place
ОтветитьCan you use all this setup without a computer?
ОтветитьHi i wanna get started in producing music and i would like to know... could you help me identifying a "starter pack" to make analog music / analog techno, without any computer would be amazing just so i can order a few modules and maybe a small keyboard to practice and see with what i wanna expand with that? hope you read this.... thank you
ОтветитьThat was good, very helpful.
ОтветитьI was also thinking about such a power supply but didn’t buy it because it couldn’t deliver enough power for some analog synths. So I found a way to fix all original power supplies under my rig.
ОтветитьI've been annoyed by the swarms sequencer actually in that it won't start with other machines on the one. Any tips there? I tried connecting midi which seems useless and my only way to get it to do what I wanted was to use a darktime sequencer with it. The manual is spotty but the sound, yes, is amazing.
ОтветитьJust came across your channel tonight. Love the live techno vids, keep up the good work.
ОтветитьWhat kind of case are you using? Really enjoyed this video, thank you :)
ОтветитьThat was one of the most informative videos ever! Thx for sharing your knowledge!
Ответитьthanks for the vids. question on the cioks, why don't you plug everything into it, including swarm and OT? is there not enough connections or is it a power thing?
ОтветитьNice video mate ! :)
ОтветитьHey 👋🏻 Eric If you find a decent second hand Novation Launch XL MkII for sale let me know cause I’m after one … the local one I found here was a dodgey seller …
Ответитьvery infomative. looking to buy 1 piece of new gear and would like to hear your opinion.
say you had a deluge and some hardware synths (2 polys and a couple of monos) , but no elektron gear, which one would you suggest you pull the trigger on first, and how would you incorporate it into a home studio setup?
I would love a deep dive on Quadrantid Swarm also what are the cables going into it? Are they needed to sync with elektron boxes?
ОтветитьDid you used to have a RYTM mkii? That didn’t make the cut?
ОтветитьNice one. How do you send cv to the quadrantid swarm in this setup? For ex to reset the pattern or any other things? And by the way how do you sync it with the rest of the setup?
Cheers
The Quadrantid Swarm is a Techno machine. Instant Aphex Twin sounds, too.
ОтветитьNice live setup. I chose the Rytm and analog four but that is less portable. But does have nice hands on control.
That Swarm is such a great machine for techno. Maybe I’ll get one in the future.
Great channel Eric, best regards Nigel ❤️🤘
ОтветитьLoved your work man, please keep doing it. Thank you 🙏
ОтветитьWhat made you decide for the 1010music Blackbox as the primary sampler, over other samplers (ex. Roland SP-404MKII, or others)?
ОтветитьWhat CV controls are connected to the SWARM? And, what part of the overall sequence is it connected In/Out? Thx!
Ответить
