I fell in love with the Gibson es 335
after hearing the song Blue guitar by the moody blues , way way back ,
Shows my age , but it’s great example of a great 335 sound .
Excellent video and super playing chris
I fell in love with 335's when I was a teen, because my Jazz fusion guitar heroes all played them. Carlton, Robben Ford, Lee Rittenour, etc. I never felt the same about LP's or SG's. For solid bodies, it's Fender all the way. I think the "greatest" title could go to either the 335 or the Tele.
ОтветитьJust bought myself a $219 Firefly 338 blueburst (Epiphone ES-335 clone for less than 1/3rd the price) that came with locking tuners, and Wow! It's the perfect compliment to my Squire 60 Vibes Strat which plays perfectly and sounds vintage single coil bell like yummy. Thing is after getting the Firefly 338 Semi-hollow body, now I really am ready to sell the Epiphone Les Paul Classic I bought first lol. The 338 and Strat are just so much more comfortable to play and have much easier access to all the frets. The Les Paul is uncomfortable heavy and the way it sits on your lap when playing is just not ergonomically sound. And man, the 338 sounds sooooo much better than the Les Paul. Anyone who needs a budget 335 that plays beautifully out of the box with no fretting out or any issues, I recommend the Firefly 338. I was also thinking about having a Harley Benton 335 shipped internationally, but now no need. Cheers!
ОтветитьI’ll take a tele.
ОтветитьCan't afford the reissue VOS or Memphis... Could you share your thoughts on the now discontinued Memphis ES-335 Studio? I'm thinking of buying the 2017 model I found.
ОтветитьLove my 335 so much that I'm constantly thinking about selling my Les Paul.
ОтветитьStarted HS south of Nashville 1968-70. Lot of live country music on local TV. Number of players used 335's, as much as Tele's. Got great country tones out of 335's.
ОтветитьThat's a tough choice to make. I have both and I love them.
ОтветитьI love my 335 and my tele....between the two it's all good....my Casino is my favorite singer strummer guitar.. 335 and tele every switch position is useable tone...I only use two of the strats options
ОтветитьI have agree with the versatility of the ES335. I had one in 1969 and kick myself to this day that I sold it.
ОтветитьWith Jeff Beck gone I think this guy is the new King of guitar
ОтветитьWould you consider reviewing an Eastman T486 and comparing it to a Gibson ES335?
ОтветитьLove your talks 👍. Great fella . Full of information, always interesting. Loved seeing you in lin Liverpool with Buck&Evans. … Top lad 🎸❤️👍
ОтветитьI love the 335, but man a set of P-94 pickups by gibson just sonically wakes them up. Completely changes the way you play the guitar
ОтветитьIm a 335 guy 100% 335 & 355. do i need a 345?
ОтветитьI like the darker tone of the black one. Nice guitar!
Ответитьas someone who loves john mayer, chris buck is the only guitarist who i feel like has a better feel in solos than mayer.
ОтветитьYou should play a 335 more often.
Perfect guitar for you,!
No, the Telecaster is the greatest guitar ever made, but the 335 is a close second. I'll take a 335 over a Les Paul any day.
ОтветитьChris Buck might be my favorite modern guitarist.
ОтветитьInteresting that most of the 335's shown have all had a refret and the NIBS removed. I wish Gibson would do a 2 year run of 335's with NO nibs, they would sell a lot more for sure. They did the 2014 LP std anniversary with no nibs! Please Gibson drop the nibs on the 335. Thk u👍🙂
ОтветитьWhat amp is Chris using and pedals? This was unbelievable combination of skills, fingers, amp ,pedals and beautiful es335.. which 335 specifically was this????
ОтветитьIdk about the greatest guitar design ever but its hands down the greatest Gibson guitar design ever. It's well balanced whether played sitting down or standing up. It arguably looks the best of all gibsons. And depending on the pickups and electronics, it can cover all genres of music fairly well. Only major downside is the electronics are a pain in the ass to work on cause of where they're located and the lack of easy access. But still amazing guitars.
ОтветитьI absolutely love your playing, so vivid and creative. A pleasure to watch!
ОтветитьHey Chris just noticed that the guitar that ur playing in the fest is a 345 not a 335
Ответитьdamn Chris.. that first solo at 5;18 is killer man.
ОтветитьTrying to find the greatest guitar seems a lot like trying to name the greatest guitarist. I love so many different sounds and styles (or both guitars and guitarists). I would rather keep on loving them all than pick one. On a purely practical level, T and S styles win for me. Easy to maintain, repair, mod, and usually less expensive for a given level of quality. I've never seen a 335 with single coils (or 3 PU in an HSH configuration), or with a Floyd, or a B-Bender, or LSR nut (and while were are on nuts ... Fender style straight string pull through the nut wins for me). But you see all of these things on Fender style guitars. All the time. And if you break a headstock or neck on a Fender (difficult to do!), it is easy for anyone to replace. Not so much for the 335. You want a different neck radius or material - no problem with bolt on necks. Need to tweak individual saddle height - no problem on an Fender style. Want to add piezo? Well ... not simple but a hell of a lot easier on a Fender than a Gibson. But if money is no object, and customization and maintenance is not your thing, and fragility is not a concern ... the 335 is cool.
ОтветитьI got a used '68 cherry 335 with Bigsby off the net around 20 years ago. I wanted that particular model because one of my guitar heros, Justin Hayward, played one. Best very scarce $1999 I ever spent! Only downside is I have to keep it chained to a pitbull to keep dear friends from walking off with it! Love your pronunciation of your name: Chris Buh-Uk!
ОтветитьThe 339 gets no love!?!?
ОтветитьOutstanding! Beautiful sounds. Love the resonance. Do I love the tone of this guitar for a solo? Not much sustain, feel a LP might add something there. Pros and cons. Looks stunning.
ОтветитьDamn that was good!
ОтветитьDid I mention the first electric guitar I ever played was an original '64 ES335??? My dad picked it up at a yard sale in Sarasota, FL along with a Silver Face Deluxe Reverb all for $250!!! I was 9yrs old so, that would have been 1977??? '78 maybe... He sold them short time later and broke my heart. I began learning to play solos on that rig! It changed my life!!!
ОтветитьSeems tai chi would settle the rush your playing at most of the time. 🎸🙏🎼🎶🎧
ОтветитьI love semi ollow body guitars more then anything else. My first semi hollow that I bought was the Epiphone Riviera p93 and believe it or not it's still one of my most versatile guitars. One of these days I'll get a 335. Great video buddy.
ОтветитьMany of us can't afford a real Gibson ES335 but the Epiphone "Inspired By Gibson" Series has come closer to the real thing than ever before... There are other alternatives but for my money I'll take the Epiphone 24/7 365!
ОтветитьI’ve got an epiphone 335 rn but I like 95% getting a Gibson 335 satin tomorrow 👀
ОтветитьChris; I’m pretty sure Slash shared a video of you recently?!
ОтветитьThe best of Telecasters is definitely way ahead not all them but the range of tones in a good one defies the logic of such a simple instrument . Cheers Chris great playing as always , Mike in Australia .
ОтветитьFour months ago on zZounds Music's website this guitar was $2,800. Now it's $3.500. Wtf???😠
ОтветитьI had the opportunity to play a couple of '59 ES335's a number of years ago. The PAF mystique is well deserved. Never heard such a wonderful balance of warmth, air and chime. Not especially loud pickups, just especially beautiful sounding. No doubt the 335's structure and its combination of woods helped the PAF's deliver that sound.
ОтветитьIf I could only have one guitar it might be the 335. If I could only have two it would be a 335ish and a Strat.
ОтветитьYour videos have been suggested for a while now. But I finally clicked and I’m glad I did. Great playing, and great video. Subbed.
Ответитьgreat playing.. but what more amazing is his ability to not drop that pick!
ОтветитьI was wanted a ES335 for a while, but I found I like the Gretsch Broadkasters better. I like the Gretsch pickups better. I own a full sized body Broadkaster, and a Broadkaster Jr., and love both of them.
Ответитьpeople that rip on early builders forget they were building the plane in flight .. my fav .. tele
ОтветитьI've tried the semi hollows,
Idk,
Something about them,
They seem more delicate,
Less apt to hard playing,
Taking a beating,
I feel I need to be more delicate, which prohibits my energy,
Especially gibson at retail 3500/4000 quid,
Anybody else feel this way?
This is my main semi hollow downfall
