Guy had good intentions, but he's standing out in no man's land not behind cover and all the deputies are ahead of his line of fire, he had the balls to step up and help but I agree there are some concerns.

I was riding a grayhound bus from Seattle Washington to Tampa worst days of my life had a punk try to steal my bag off bus saw him with my bag tackled him and security tried to stop me and i didn't let him go police thanked me and said they had been looking for him and i didn't nead to come to court they had it covered

The man has every right to defend himself from danger as the police. He assisted the officer but was also protecting himself from these felons.

That Sergeant is an idiot. Ive been carrying for over 30 years and every time I see an officer engaged with someone I keep a close eye on them to make sure they are ok. Whether I'm sitting at a light or driving by. IGY6 officers.

When I was a younger Marine Officer i pulled over on the side of I-35 because this guy was chasing this woman around the car. Got out in uniform with my service weapon on me. I asked him to stop, told her to get into my vehicle. He went toward his car and started to search for something. I pulled out my .45 and was dead set on killing him if he pulled out a weapon and I told him so. He took off and Highway Patrol showed up. I gave them the tag number and they took the young lady to the hospital. The officer never questioned me about my gun, he was former service as well, called my sir and by my rank. Many of us so called "Civilians", have more training and capabilities than these local Mayberry cops do.

The typical government servant, the Sgt, “we don’t know their level of training…”. It’s likely better than average LE.

Once LE views themselves us equals with the citizenry, the better off society will be.

If you don’t know your citizens that you serve as LE…well that’s a command problem🤷‍♂️

That’s rich, talking about the civilian being untrained (which he has no way of knowing). He needs to go back and look at the stats on how often cops miss their target (it’s well over half the time). Not to mention, how many times they’ve accidentally shot and sometimes killed a civilian who is near.

"The best thing to do, as a civilian, is to be a good witness?" WTF, sarge???? You have ONE of your officers facing FOUR felons? And, even though I'm armed, you want me to be a witness? So I can tell you guys how one of your own got Swiss cheesed??? Not a chance. I will announce to the officer "I'm a legally armed citizen; do you need help?" Then I will follow her instructions. I am NOT going to just stand there and watch her get killed because YOU don't know my level of training. In the heat of the battle, it's too late for you to worry about my level of training. Be thankful you have another gun in the fight to give the bad guys something new to worry about.

Base on his stance and standing in the open without cover, then holsters his gun just to move left after the sheriff commanded him to move left, tells me he (the civilian) was not trained.
