When the Dog at the adoption center chooses you

I just adopted a new addition to my family today as well. I named him Roofus. My family and I had gone to the local animal shelter two weeks ago and saw him. But at the time, we weren't fully committed 100% to having another dog and wanted to wait a while. Today, we went back to the shelter and I had happened to have glanced at him and knew instantly that he was the one for me. He has such a wonderful temperment and is just a little pup but has bundles of energy and is already getting into everything. He also gets along VERY well with my pack of two dogs-Rusty and Ladybug...THAT is most important to me! As for the messes and getting into everything, well, I guess I'll have to puppy proof my home by cleaning it up really well!

He chose me Black Friday 2016, and we're 100% inseparable.
When I drove up to the Humane Society fence, a couple dozen dogs out in the yard playing. He's the only dog that came to the fence on his own, he followed me down the fence into the shelter, jumped on the desk and forced his muzzle under my hand to pet him, and he hasn't stopped.

Don’t waste your time adopting from 3rd party “rescues.” They want you to have the perfect life, the perfect house, be at the house at all times, be able to provide income, have consistent check ups with your pevious dogs, and some even want to check your credit. Go to a breeder, because these companies don’t care where the dogs go and the volunteers don’t realize how many good familys get rejected.

We have 3 adopted dogs and I wouldn't give them away for all the money in the world. Dogs are for life.

Reminds me of when I was 5 and on my birthday my dad took me to get a dog at the pound and there was a bunch of puppies in a cage, he told me to go inside and sit down and the puppies swarmed me and after 10 minutes I was attached to one, she was my best friend for 20 years and past in my arms

My teen years would’ve been so different if my mom let us adopt. She says that now because I was very depressed in high school. The family dog Kody went with dad after my parents split. We couldn’t keep pets where we moved into . Miss her so much. She was just gorgeous. Lab Doberman cross. Imagine that. Black and Tan. She was my world😢
But we have lady now. She’s an English cocker spaniel . She lost her sight about a year ago. She is getting up there in age. She is such a sweetheart. So sweet and kind. Lovely. She’s at my parents and I miss her so much. ❤❤❤

I had a cat who chose me at the Humane Society. She was just a kitten, and when
she saw me looking at other kittens, she began clawing outside of her cage like -
no! no! no! - it's me you are supposed to pick. And of course, I picked her.

How beautiful when adopter and adoptee are so very different but find a way to communicate with each other and come to realize each of them are able to find joy and love they will share for the rest of their lives
