After watching the whole video, I still think the server is worthless. Outright, we can chop off the worth of the hardware, since it has value on it’s own. Matter of fact, it’s probably worth less now that it has been used. And probably will be worth even less soon, since it will eventually become outdated. I would count the domain though. Considering the map to be a “work of art” is a wild stretch, I’d compare it to an NFT if anything.

Products are worth as much as the buyers are willing to pay for them, and the general public has agreed it is worthless. This was made evident in the poll. Unless the community around 2b2t is insanely rich, if you try to put it up for auction at 500k, you’re probably getting laughed out. The only value the server has is sentimental value.

128 gb sounds more reasonable

Personally, the amount of history stored in this 13 terrabytes are priceless. Think about 13 terrabytes of 13 years of minecraft history. You'd be hard pressed to put a price on that. For an outsider it might be worth 1.6 million, but for Housemaster, there is no pricetag.

I’d say the map value is extremely exaggerated, there’s infinite copies. You’d have to sell it as a NFT, and virtually worthless at that point. The most money would be made from the website itself. Simply because any investor would see that as a money printing machine due to all the web traffic and advertisement opportunities.

If I ever become rich, I’ll happily buy the server and keep it running 😅. That’s if I become rich though and the chances are slim so I’m sorry guys.

$1.6M actually makes sense with that breakdown and could be a low estimate. There is a compromise cause when you purchase a business, you don't want it to take long to turn a profit. Personally, considering that map alone being a art piece and also the revenue it can generate. I would not let it go unless I could sell off comfortably and not feel like I am losing much of my current lifestyle.
This is an interesting thought. It's not just about an offer that would sound appealing, but it's also who's buying it and I would want to know what their plan is to run the server.
I would draw up a contract with a provisionary/probationary period where I can terminate the contract and sell of the server if it's being mismanaged.
I guess I'd transfer over the existing staff.
I would want to remain on board as a consultant on what ideas should made until I feel comfortable with the new owner.
