Once you are past 40 you are almost invisible to a woman under 25 the idea that a gorgeous young woman would want a pensioner is laughable.

So many of these "victims" have shady intentions themselves, whether they're cheating or trying to be involved with some kind of money making scheme that they know isn't legal, and sometimes they're just straight up trying to take advantage of someone they think is young and desperate and looking to leave their country.
I'd say 80% of them are driven by greed or some other predatory motive.

I think someone tried to catfish me using this Instagram influencer's pictures before. It was on Facebook.

She randomly messaged me, had an assistant (I think the assistant's name was Anna too) and had an Uncle that traded crypto.

When she messaged me out of the blue I already figured something was up but I decided to play along because I saw that her account had been active for several years, posted regularly, and she had a lot of motivational quotes while having pictures of her living the high life. She also told me she lived in LA.

I was intrigued because if it was a scam account, it was the most active and authentic looking one I've seen. As she chatted with me, I gave short and closed off responses because I didn't want to put too much time into this. I wanted to know what the angle was. So, to speed things up, I mentioned to her that I was into investing. Then she started talking about her uncle and how he trades crypto and how he makes all of his clients money.

I am an actual investor that knows how to value companies so I told her that Bitcoin has no intrinsic value and there is not a way to value it other than what people are willing to pay for it and I said there is no strategy for crypto trading that will yield consistent returns. She got mad at me and kept telling me she is trying to help me and I was ignorant, but I stood my ground. She eventually blocked me.

I think it was the most clever attempt at scamming me that I had seen so far. This scammer was putting a lot of effort into appearing authentic. These people are getting better and better at this.

Anyone can perform reverse image searches etc.I'm struggling to see how are these people are adding anything special; what is their proprietary tool or skill? Their main talent seems to be making ad money, by making vids of the poor folk being scammed? No one is 'saved'. Please correct me if any of this is factually incorrect.

It is straight up a scam always once they reveal they want any of your money. I think they call this a “pig butchering scheme ” (financial investment scam). (Chinese term).

Also if she was in China they have their own CCP run internet and the CCP does not allow them on the world’s internet. They face death if caught. So if a Chinese citizen is really online and talking to you they are sanctioned by the CCP to do so and there is an agenda.
