I had a family member who attempted to do this with my father, I told them to send it back, they cashed it, then got angry at me, when her bank account was wiped clean, get them all, charge them, and recover the money.

Social Security has made everyone go on direct deposit and there is no physical checks anymore. A dead person would cash the check, as long as their bank account is still open. It’s time for each government agency to work with each other and quit refusing to send the list of dead people. If social security won’t share the list, then have vital records who sends the list to social security, once completed every week/month, or whenever they send it to social security, then at the same time send it to all the other government agencies that needs that information, especially send it to voters records of every state so these people can be removed from the voter rolls.

Isn't that money going to bank accounts, so why Isn't the bank taking some responsibility for accounts not being used especially the accounts of SS recipient's. The bottom line is that banks can than use that money to make a profit off of dead people.

This information floors me we shouldn't need a government Department of efficiency to state the obvious but apparently we do! I work with the government in my job and have to deal with the regulations and reporting, from my POV the government needs a total overhaul on their technical infrastructure and databases need to speak to each other. Sharing the list for now is good but every Federal agency should have a portal into this information.
