Can you skip dinner instead and exercise in the afternoon? My mornings are way too early and busy to workout and I can’t stand skipping breakfast as it makes me unfocused.

I just started watching this guy and most of what he says I’ve been told before. What is really uplifting though is how polite and supportive almost everyone is in the comments. I gotta stop listening to so much news and politics and start following this stuff. That sh!t is what’s really bad for you.

My only problem with Andrew is that he opines on so many areas of life that I fear he might just be a bs artist—you know the type…a public intellectual. IDK.

Any advice on pairing my iPhone with my car? It keeps coming unpaired. Andrew probably researched this for the military. I also have some questions about the price of tea in China. Andrew, what do you think?

How I stopped smoking is by WASTING MONEY, which I HATE! So if I got a cigarette craving I would indulge that craving by buying a pack of cigs, smoke one and then throw the rest of the pack away. It took me three packets of wastage until I stopped buying and stopped smoking.

Glycogen is only partly relevant. Yes the body taps into fat storage, but it does so after limiting energy output even before that, meaning you're first going to see a drop in energy, especially mental, motivation, thinking, etc. before you even get to the exercise. The body is very good at burning the "right" kinds of fuel for a specific task, and there just isn't any that even comes close to sugars when doing physical workouts. A better way of looking at it is that the body burns what it needs to burn during the day regardless (about 1800-2500 calories a day for most people) which for ordinary function, thinking, working, etc. can be considered as "coming from fat storage" - so the food you eat during the day should be considered fuel for workouts. Don't ever think you can tap into fat storage by forcing a ton of muscle activity in - it's the exact opposite of what the body wants (and does). So considering a kilo of body fat (bout 2.2 pounds) is approx. 7700 calories, if you work out 5-7 days a week for about an hour maybe hour and a half, you should be able to consistently drop 2-3 pounds a week if the caloric intake matches that and preferably if you eat right after working out (that way the nutrients are pulled into muscle regeneration before even going into storage). And eating a lot of protein doing that will give you larger muscles (if you do weight training), but will obviously negate some of the weight loss because you're putting on muscle.

In short, go by your BMR as a base you're going to drop a little more than half a pound a day, then whatever you eat, work out accordingly. Meaning if you eat shitty you need to hit the gym, and/or be active otherwise for at least 90 mins (5 mile walk, play pick-up, etc.), and if you're not eating shitty (calorie wise) you're free to stay in bed and not get out until 4 pm watching shorts if that's what you want.

It's not hard, it's just shitty. I currently dropped about 57 pounds in little over 5 months at an about 1500 calorie deficit just doing that. Then when I'm done I can eat at maintenance levels again (about next summer). You don't have to eat at a huge deficit though, it just gets you there quicker. One year to lose 140 ish pounds rather than the 6-7 it would take if you just switched your diet and gradually reached maintenance that way.

I can confirm that a rural, Midwest upbringing helps. When your parents expect you to accomplish things without complaining and without creating the expectation that it's so haaaaaaaaard... it will lack perceived difficulty. It's the same in the Marine Corps: the real difficulty is overcoming the expectation of difficulty and simply getting on with the work. The task may actually be difficult at first - but the reality matters less than how we perceive it.

If I ever have a couple beers or a mixed drink ( like once or twice a year ) I feel like I"m 20 again, mental clarity, head held high and ready to take on the world. I have always known how to be disciplined I just never applied it to my health. I am 64 yrs old. In April 2022 I was obese at 220 lbs. I set a 24 month health goal to be at 24 BMI. I completed that in 17 months. I went off my hypertension medications. I go to the gym 5-6 times a week. I earned my health back.

Workout with weights and do cardio 3 to 4 days a week. Intense workouts 45 to 60 minutes. And get a balanced productive life. THE END

Yes I have noticed for years that when eating after 2pm, my body feels so MUCH better than when I eat before 2pm. I literally just drink water before then. 2nd, using audio subliminals are a great method to reprogram your mind to do just about anything. Including to pick up new habits. The YT channel NeoOneness Subliminals speaks a lot about Subliminals and the subconscious mind.
