I am an Osmose owner (which I think you already knew). Your videos are insightful, as I am a late-in-life synthesiser user. All my other keyboards and controllers have taken a 'back seat' since owning the Osmose. The Eagen Matrix is 'beyond me', but I am looking forward to Expressive E's 'easier to use' interface to that matrix. I'm with you, the Osmose is very much a worthwhile investment...

Owner here. Recently, they are promoting refurbished units at 25% discount. Wonder if there were massive number of RMAs.

Not an owner. Still a lifetime of learning ahead with stuff I already have. I always appreciate your thoughtful analysis of music tools. The walk-and-talk clips of yourself on camera are a nice touch that add a sense of human connection.

I got mine last week. I'm struggling to map to V-Winds release decay. Is there no release velocity? They have the key position data + note-off, so why not update the firmware?

I'll probably pick-up an Touche. I just really hope they add release velocity via firmware, even if it's just rough release speed based. I have instruments that could REALLY use this.

Way, WAY out of my price range as a hobbyist, but do they have a model that's just a MIDI controller, without the synth?

I've had my Osmose for about a year and I'm still on the learning curve (as a classically trained player - I can't even fathom the Eagan Matrix/Max programming environment.) I agree that this is - or should be - a completely revolutionary way to approach keyboard instruments. Every time I play this thing, I stretch my expectations of how I can express ideas. Things I thought I'd only ever be able to emulate with knobs, wheels, and pedals, I can now do directly, with the main tools of my trade: My HANDS. The engine is also still basically V1 and will get much, much more complex and capable in the coming years. There's an update coming soon that will include re-synthesis, so working with found audio in a modeled environment. That will be a game changer for me. In the meantime, Noisy 2, Phase Plant, and other MPE-enabled VSTs offer me huge new playgrounds for this new type of expression. Viva Osmose!

I’m part of the OG pre-order crowd of the Osmose, and it’s definitely the gift that keeps on giving.
The recent Polybrute firmware update unlocks the MPE capabilities of the 6 voice version, so I’ve been having tons of fun finding new life in those sounds!

The osmose sound engine is terrible. They should release it as an open source engine to get folks who understand it to produce a better series of sounds.

This is only the future if someone can copy this in an affordable instrument.

I've had mine for maybe a year now, and it's a pretty amazing instrument. It's already impressive what it can do now, it's pretty exciting to know that a new patchset editor is coming, to unlock even more possibilities. I didn't manage to do much with the Eagan Matrix yet.
Btw, you don't mention at all this coming functionality that will be MIND BLOWING: Resynthesis. That will be yet another feature that doesn't exist elsewhere yet. The keyboard will supposedly get any sample of your choice and try to replicate it with its Haken Audio modelling. No, not playing the same sample over the keys, but playing a model of that sample!!!!!
That will be crazy if it's coming anywhere close to working....

Okay, you convinced me.
I was an MPE mocker, but not anymore.
And as a flute player, I welcome the way woodwinds are treated by Osmose.

What's needed is aduancements in technology of acouſticke pianos. Eletricke will ALWAIES ſound fake, becauſe it is, and it will alwaies be woꝛſe to play as a muſician. Battery watches are inferior to mechanical watches, one is baſed on good pꝛinciples and the other is not.

The Oſmos foꝛ all its abilities ſtill cannot play in tune in euen ONE key's vicinity. One needeth 17 notes per octave in Pythagoꝛean iuſt intonationi in oꝛder to play in C maioꝛ in tune. Vntill people really rethink the traditional piano layout, they will be loſt in the weeds oꝛ moꝛe and moꝛe beeps and boops of computers.

We need inſtruments that can play intune. And do not tell me about the Lumatone, that thing is not ſet vp foꝛ playing in tune either. That only ſpecializeth in playing in myriad out of tune tunings. Euen if thou waſt to put it in true intonation, the layout is not conduciue to playing muſicke that is in tune ergonmoically foꝛ the hand, becauſe it was made with out of tune microtonality in mind, and not true iuſt intonation.

There are many poſſibilities foꝛ making real acouſticke inſtruments that perpetually ſtay in tune, and hath key layouts that allow one to play and modulate ANYWHERE and remain in tune thꝛoughout. But people lack the will to execute anything real oꝛ good oꝛ true. They only long foꝛ the ſlop fed to them by literal Sataniſts in the muſicke woꝛld and inſtrument making woꝛld. No one is ſeeking in the right direcition. Electricke inſtruments will FOR EVER be bargain options, teaching tools, oꝛ poſſibly foꝛ experimenting, but neuer foꝛ being taken as legitimate, let alone the ideal.

The pꝛoblem is that people are blind, and they are blind becauſe they are euill, and their euill only increaſeth the moꝛe they try and perſiſt intheir euill rather than ſeeking the Loꝛd Ieſus Chꝛiſt, euen that very one wꝛitten of at length in the King Iames Bible. Without him, thou ſhalt do nothing good, foꝛ God alone is good. If thou wiſheſt to know him, thy Creatoꝛ, look theſe vp, beleeue, and heed, and liue:

1 Corinthians 15:1-8 KJV
Romans 10:2-13 KJV
Proverbs 30:4-6 KJV
John 14:6 KJV
John 14:22-24 KJV
John 17:17 KJV
Psalms 12:6-7 KJV

Is there any public discussion of the upcoming 25 key version of the Osmose? I can't seem to find anyone talking about it. I'd love it if it were also optionally available as "just" a MIDI controller, to help reduce cost even further.

I sold my Polybrute 6 to help fund the osmose. I was thinking I may have made a mistake but as soon as I got it and started playing, I was blown away. I’ve never had so much fun playing a keyboard. I don’t think it’s an understatement to say this technology is revolutionary. I’m so excited to see what expressive e does with updates. There are a few little weird bugs here and there, but this is one of the best music gear purchases I’ve ever made. :)

It's not a controller???
Lol! Not true. It's a great midi classic keyboard controller. That's just for starters. It has many external mpe or midi controllers options. It's super flexible.
