Doubled Ended R7 78mm J-Type J78 LED Light Bulbs

I gave same fixture with 3 lights; but there’s a clip-on glass shield which goes over the old bulb. I imagine it won’t be needed or fit with needs new bulbs. The insane heat reduction alone- will be worth it. 1 dead out of 3 since 2007 or so!

I see different lengths of bulbs for the floor models on eBay, is it because people can’t measure them properly, or are there really 4 3/4, and 4 5/8 lengths?

Why do you have 100W halogen lamps in your bathroom? 😀 We use those as heating lamps to warm the food in catering

Exactly the information I needed. My bulbs goes into a reading lamp. Got so darn hot, I was about ready to get rid of the lamp.

Some bulbs are fitted with far too many LEDs making them far too bright and more likely to blow sooner.

hi mate, I am wondering if we can replace the existing halogen J78 halogen bulb with an LED bulb ? I mean like will the voltage be not high for LED ? Do we need to check the voltage on LED's before buying ? I am just worried. Please advise . This is for the mercator fan LIGHT replacement. We just moved in. thanks

I haven't tried these led linear halogen replacement bulbs yet but I'm sure they should produce light to 120w equivalent for my needs, obviously you have to weigh up cost of bulbs and their life span as well as brightness, energy consumed and if they safely fit as replacements.

I've found Security light PIR's are actually much more effective at head height and can actually be triggered by people walking past on the opposite side of a narrow street, which is brilliant to warn residents someone is out and about. Thick heads of hair and people wearing hoods are often not detected by a PIR unfortunately, as they're not detecting their body heat.

I first started with a 500w halogen linear security light bulb but kept changing them for lower wattage bulbs when they eventually failed and eventually realised 120w was actually more than enough.

Yeah from my experience of having a security light that goes on and off at least thirty times a night, I rarely need to change the halogen bulbs maybe be one every two years, especially if you don't touch and contaminate the glass when fitting so I am not complaining.

Are these LEDs dimmable?

Are there a Smart version of these that work with Alexa or Google Home?

Warning.. Don’t expect the LED bulb to last long. I bought LED replacements for most of my household applications and while way more efficient, they flicker and die within weeks, whereas the halogens last for years. Another tip-off is many LED type bulb are sold in ten packs..you’re gonna need them.

Halogens are extremely bright, fragile, expensive, short lived, generate dangerous levels of heat. LED replacements are great!
