Depressing, but very common behavior for zebras. Males frequently attack mothers as they are giving birth. Very likely this her first foal. Experienced mothers know about this and will go into seclusion to give birth like lionesses do.

For anyone questioning why this is happening it’s most likely because the male knows the foal isn’t his :O something something…the stripes in zebras are actually distinguishable in their language lol the males usually do this when they know the foal isn’t their offspring unfortunately :(( that or let’s be real, zebras are known 2 be MASSVE A-HOLES IYKYK🦓💥

other male animals do this quite often in the wild. the males know when the foal doesnt belong to them(likely a rogue male snuck in and bred her and her band's stallion is not having the foal in his herd, or he is the new stallion of the herd and the foal was fathered by previous stallion) and they will kill the babies so that the mother will reenter estrus and then the native stallion can produce his own offspring. sad, but they know when a foal isnt theirs.
