Why Gen V is an excellent spinoff to The Boys

With Jordan's powers it's quite similar to MCU Black Panther's suit but tied to the male and female. IE- Male Jordan can absorb energy and female Jordan can expel it, or at least, that's what I've picked up. Also, totally agree with you on Emma and Sam being the best relationship in the show, I was rooting for them the whole time lol

i watched gen v after s4 finale and i absolutely love it

immensely mid show. Couldnt finish it but cant seem to stop watching the Boys. Maybe its just the immense cringe factor the characters bring that prevents me from watching it.

As someone who watched gen v first and then the entirety of The Boys, i think you can absolutely start with it. Granted if youre a super stickler about the right order or contextual spoilers, then yeah dont start with it. But, if youre just more interested in gen v and want to get to it without going thru 3 seasons of another show, then go ahead. By the end youll be excited to binge the 4 main seasons

How were you confused as to what the powers of both the male and female’s version of Jordan are? It was demonstrated very well.

I personally loved gen V but at certain times some of the interpersonal drama felt very Degrassi and I don't know if that was intentional or not it felt like whenever there was a Sam and Emma emotional scene i was watching a teen drama like riverdale. I loved allllll of the other side plots except one scene with jordan and marie that felt like it was dragging on

I had a weird impression on this shows as I love YA shows as much as Garth Ennis loves the super hero genre

I like the training aspect. We are shown very clearly that the powers ain't always what you think and you can get better with it. Think of firecracker. She's not actually that lame. Both her and starlight probably used their powers as decorations in beauty peagants and show numbers. Starlight improves. Fire cracker never really developed it further. She can probably cause huge explosions. In the same sense that every man can probably benchpress 200lbs. After a while training

Gen V clearly lacked the same nuance that the boys does, it was super duper duper clear that the editing, cinematography, directing and writing were just so bad after episode 2 it was all sex jokes to fill the time way too long sexual scenes aswell, and a lot a lot a lot of other problems like the fact the only reason sam has mental problems is so they can do the fucking puppet scenes which were ok but not worth writing such a bad character, who just flips sides so quickly, also they clearly didn’t understand the boys like they didn’t make neumann intimidating or like even have the same vibes as her counterpart in the boys but when she’s shown in gen v it actually hurts her character she loses her whole edge and is so tame unlike her actually character in the boys and they shoot it like an entirely different character and write it like one too it was just so so so so bad. You could play an entire drinking game of just taking shots when they wrote something in poorly and you’d be dead by the time you finished the show

Male Jordan is completely indestructible
Female Jordan is fast and has energy projection powers

Idk if you said 'the boys' enough.

I'd also recommend watching Gen V season 1 before season 4 of the boys.

Sky high in the boys universe. Whoever expected anything different and was thus disappointed is an idiot. Solid show with great complex and consistently written characters.

Gen V should be watched after season 3 of the boys, not after 4 or 5 yet. At the beginning of season 4 of The Boys, the "previously" segment contains spoilers for gen V.

You really dont need to watch 3 seasons of the Boys to enjoy Gen V it isn't imperitive to the plot they give enuff details to understand what's going on

It's a good series but the boys having a spin off makes it feel like just another superhero franchise which is smth it's supposed to subvert

The person who impressed me the most was definitely Asa Germaan as Sam.He absolutely was amazing,and I look forward to seeing more sam in season 2 because I don’t think he’s genuinely a bad guy,was just so tired of being a lab rat.
